New Racers for Final Fantasy XIV

I'd like to create a thread about opinions and discussions of Square Enix adding new races to the game.

I personally vote for a race a lot like the Viera from FFXII, which I find is a lot more of a fan service than the Mithra/Miqo'te we have today. And it seems like SE is pretty much trying to recreate the game, so why not recreate recycled FFXI races?

So what do you guys think? Should there be an array of new races and drift away from FFXI? Or should they take the time to redesign the current races and keep the FFXI feel?

I dont think any of the Ivalice races should be used, that's an entirely separate world I do not want to see abused for "fan service"

They also don't need to redesign the current races, they have a good amount of FFXI feel with enough freshness that its still new.

There is enough races, although unlike most games of late the "beastmen" here arnt playable. Counting those its a darwins dream. But from what we have there is 10 playable factions, which is pretty standard.

Edit: actually I wouldn't mind the race already in game not available. Name eludes me ATM, too early.

FF XI is a different game too and they reused races so I see no reason why not to use races from other Final Fantasis.
Viera would be cool but I would love to have those lizard men from XII. They looked really cool for me.
Edit. Besides SE already conformed they would like to add some dragon race or something, didn't they?

I know they said they are adding a couple new races later on in the series. Something about a dragon race or whatnot.

but it'd be awesome to play a Vierra in an MMO. Definately be exciting to have more racial differentiation.

Oh and I hope with the new character enhancements they are doing to the current races, I hope they let us have the ability to make the Miqote more "manly" and beastlike like they were in XI.

They are already adding Male Mithra, Female Highlanders, Female Roegadyn, as well as both genders of Sub-Hyur and Dragon-Kin.

Joking aside though, I'd personally love to see them implement Ivalice races, possibly when 2.0 comes out when we can re-roll our character's appearances. As long as they don't muck up the storylines, I think it'd be awesome to see Viera, Moogles, Nu Mou, Bangaa, etc. as playable characters... maybe even implement parts of Ivalice's world into the game. Heck, the two Garlean leaders (forgot their names... van Darnus, White Raven, something something) look just like Judges anyway. Perhaps they could tie the story in with that somehow?

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me, lol. I've played Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing, but I was only beginning to get into Final Fantasy with FF7 during the N64/PSX days, sadly. And of course, I did the chocobo races on there. ^^
