Theres really no limits on relocation. The starting plot can be any plot, any ward(subdivision or normal), any district, any size - and when you find the plot you actually want open you can move over in a snap. Youll get a small amount of the original plots value as a discount on the destination plot(30% of the minimum sale value). As an FC moving plots youll find that your workshop and airship/sub status is unaffected, and private rooms any members may have put up before the move get transfered over automatically as well - gardens are frozen until you re-establish them(if you had something growing it wont progress, but it wont get worse and die either - it just waits for you to put the garden back together) and any chocobos stabled will be ready to retrieve as soon as you place the furnishing in the yard.

This probably won't come up, but mentioning anyway as it's good to know, you can actually only relocate once every 5 minutes. I was trying to do some plot swapping a while back and found out the hard way when I wanted to relocate out of one plot, move something into that plot and then move into that one just vacated... and it throws up an error saying about it must be 5 minutes since your last relocation.

Most people are probably unlikely to ever have that problem, but it's something to be aware of!

There are no limitations on relocations that I am aware of. I recently relocated from a LB small on one side of the river/falls to one on the other side with a better view and closer to an MB.

I recently relocated from a small Mist plot onto a medium Shirogane plot. No timer effect, can confirm on that. The plot was just open fr 4 hours or so, although this is tonberry server we're talking about, any longer it'll be goner.
