Yes! Please make outfits account wide! I have four characters, and having to buy a separate outfit for each is uh... pricey to say the least. Please square!

Pure greed that should not be tolerated. SE make all the items account wide, I shouldn't have to spend 21$ twice for the same thing.
Which is surprising me - This game isn't directly 'alt friendly' by design, given that you need to pursue the main scenario all the way through to reach the expansions.
Although, that can be something SE had in mind in the first place to reduce server burden. After all, all jobs/professions can be on one character and the low count but steep cost of account wide items.

You're right. One issue I see with this, at least an issue for SE, is the potential situation of someone creating a new character after having made many purchases of this shop-only currency, but instead of buying precisely what they'd purchased on their previous character, they start buying the latest item(s) added to the store.
As the main reason SE gave for have limited account-wide items is the issue with in-game mail system, maybe an alternative for a common currency can be the "unlocking" of items: you purchase the "unlock" of a given item and then you will send it to the characters of your choose, anytime, by the Mog Station.
Only unlocked items can be freely sent to your characters, and the system is not stressed because it is you that will send items to given characters only at the times you feel to do that, instead have the system make account-wide mogmail to every character you have.

I agree with this because if I want to make an alt (I right now dont)- I should not have to purchase an outfit again for an alt.

I was under impression that the strain was simply having the data attached to your account to accommodate any and all future characters, not the actual execution of sending the mogmail items. You're right.

With single-character items, the data only needs to be waiting in the wings until you log on and claim the item, then it's added to your inventory and no future consideration is required on the part of the server.
With account-wide items, however, that item is not only in the inventory of the characters you claim it on, but also always has that +1 level tied to your account that always has to be there in case you make a new character. Continue to make purchases over time and that list grows longer and longer.
The mog station is tied to your FFXIV account, so I'm not sure that even having the items claimed directly from the mog station rather than auto-mailed to newly creating characters would do more than move the issue from one server to another.
I wonder if there could be a way for the game to, instead of having that "waiting in the wings" list, look at one character you sent the items to first, verify that that character has said item(s) (non-expendable ones, naturally), and then copy/paste those flags over to your new character post-creation.

I'm sure those are just poor excuses from SE to fool players into thinking there's nothing they can do about the rewards in the mail system!...
SE is just being as cheap as they can because they could easily fix the way things work and send the mails in batches and have the players open and obtain the rewards from every single mail before being able to receive the next batch!...
Having too many mails only happens to new characters and they have empty inventories so there's no space problems that would prevent players from getting all the rewards, SE could also automate the process and have the player grant permission so the mail system opens every single letter and moves the objects within to the inventory, it's just about having more useful options but that creates another problem given the obsolete code the game uses!...

I think the idea is that, yes, under the current system, things like account-wide items are impossible. But, you know what else was "impossible?" Increased inventory space. But, with the release of Stormblood, we got an increased inventory and eventually got Chocobo Saddlebags as well. These options were created by SE thinking outside the box to give the consumers what they want. They can find a way to make more items account-wide, we just have to give them a reason to search. Showing that there's demand for account-wide items is important, just like it was important to show SE that we wanted increased inventory.
i pay for having alts and i would love to buy a lot of the outfits from the cash station but i can't see paying those price for it to go to one character. if it went to all my characters then yes i could be spending more money on the cash station. that is not a question. ^_^

Unless their mounts, like a certain 2 that came out just after they said they can't do account wide due to server limitations.
If they actually couldn't keep doing it, why are mounts okay? Why can't clothing be okay too?
