This made me giggle, and also have a bit of genuine confusion. Is Zalera's population or social interaction so small that 3 people forming a pre-made seems like something that would only be likely to come from a larger server like Balmung?

You might be reading Moro backwards here. I dont think she's saying "Zalera is so small that 3 people couldnt group together". I read it more as "Balmung has a large population, so i dont know if these 3 came together or if its just a coincidence that theyre from the same place".

Yes that was my thought process that it means toilet/bathroom. But it was in conversation and there was no break between me asking to know what he said in English. That's what led me to think it was an insult to answer "how was my tanking". I can completely see where you are coming from though and may need to take it as a miscommunication due to language.

No worries...sometimes that happens. Though that mentor could've at least stayed to help you out some, or at least said something of value. They obviously understood enough to say that in english.

The other week I did a roulette Guildheist as tank and got the poison rose one (don't know the name). I clearly stated to all that this was my first time and still new to tanking despite Guildheists being rinsed within 5 minutes; I still wanted to be sure everyone knew. Anyway, no mention of tips or mechanics offered up to me. So, what do you do when there's a massive cloud of poison? You move out of it. I spent the next 10 minutes running around like a headless chicken trying to stay out of the poison whilst trying to pick up the adds. It was messy to say the least, how was I to know I'm just meant to stand in the clouds and not move?! No one offered up pointers.

So we do it anyway, no one died, all good. I say sorry for the mess and again it was my first time, and asked for tips. A mentor, of all people, says something in German?/another language but with the word tank in it, so obviously this is aimed at me, despite my communication being in very plain English. So I ask again to clarify and offer tips/feedback. I get "was w/c". So basically my tanking "was crap". before I could reply he was gone, and unfortunately from another server so couldn't /tell him to elaborate or offer something slightly more constructive or ask why he is even a mentor.

I was very much appalled at the behaviour of this particular mentor and wish I had kept a name. It's frustrating when you're trying to learn the role! Anyway, hasn't put me off as I know there's a minority that just can't help themselves but be rude.

Some people expect new players to know everything right off the bat, even when the new player states they are new(if you hadn't, that might have been a different story). All I can say, is that every time I've done that guildhest the tank always moves the boss just outside the poison circle, and everyone else just deals with the adds. Then again, everyone can do it differently, so that mentor had no reason to say that really.

Are you sure that's what that meant, and not something else entirely? You said they didn't clarify...I looked it up myself, but apparently, w/c means water closet, which is a weird slang that's I've never heard of (but apparently is a thing) that means bathroom. As in, they were in the bathroom, so they couldn't really answer your question. I dunno...I'd be wary about assuming things in different languages.

Most times it means "wrong chat", which would indicate Mikazuki being more than likely correct in the assumption that the mentor was talking trash about them in their LS/FC chat. I know I've seen dozens of times where FC members are talking bad about a random they got in a mostly pre-made party.

Tank shenanigans aside, I thought I read somewhere at one point that on the JP servers, they always have Alliance B's tank as the MT. Not that it in anyway excuses this particular tank's behavior, but just saying that I had heard of something to that effect before. Whether or not it's true, I can't say.

As someone who plays on the JP servers, I can confirm that Alliance B tank is MT, unless that tank is one of two warriors with the other tank being PLD, then in that case PLD defaults to MT, but even then, this is rare, Alliance B tank has to just bite the bullet most of the time

this is more like a pet peeve to me.
I've experienced it before, I've made the same mistake myself (but realized it at least halfway before the next trash mob), but not equipping a sect as AST until the very end of Snowcloak is one feat...for the rest of the party.
asked the healer at least twice if sect is not available and no reply. even used the translate function just in case. radio silence.
I was MCH, other dps was BRD, and AST decided to give all the cards including Balance to DRK.
no kicking involved because given healer was a sprout, and we were managing it so whatever. it's just annoying.

If I were to guess they might have been focus targeting the tank the whole run. And healed the others with AoE heals only. Unless they did single target heal the dps then I have no idea. XD

looking up the battle texts, all I see is benefic and benefic II.

I'd say the rest of the party knows the dungeon pretty well so that helped. but we nearly did wipe at that trash pack after 1st boss and it was because the DRK didn't get healed enough, so it was a cascade.
AST must be learning, hence I just see it as a pet peeve.

Personally, I have a few issues with AST. I do like the class but because I have issues with multi-tasking most times, I panic a lot when playing it. Not only do you have to watch everyone's HP but you need to micromanage your cards at the same time, and that can get chaotic sometimes. I do try my best to get the cards out to the right people but sometimes it's really hard for me. And my main healer is SCH right now! (Lol fairy micromanaging)

So all you ASTs out there that can pull this off super smoothly, you have my respect. XD

Could have kicked the guy out but it might take longer to get a new tank + clear than it takes to clear even like this. They did turn Shield Oath on after it was mentioned but didn't react to anything else.
