I can't imagine why Square Enix would do this, but nontheless I agree that they should.

Agreed and signed. Either make things account wide (this is preferable honestly) or split all these $18 purchases up into parts so we can at least get different things for different characters without breaking the bank.

And for server limitation nonsense, they can store the bonds on your mog account. Don't auto mail our other characters, we can go into account management and check a box to click "send". Done. You can even record which chars have received it and grey them out.

Either this or the “Mogstation Calamity Salvager” idea would work. Some of the items I don’t use at all so I wouldn’t even opt to have them sent to any new characters I make: for example, the Butler Attire—if I’m playing a female, best I can do is glamour the outfit onto my retainer, but I’m unlikely to ever use it, so instead of sending it to the Mail Moogle that has to have back problems from holding all this stuff by now, give me an option in Account Management to have it forwarded to my character, or a Calamity Salvager that I can pick the item up if I have the right flag on my account. The flags have to exist in some shape or form for the server to know to send any and all newly created characters on an account X Items when they’re made; just transfer where the items can be picked up from, and/or the method of sending. And create flags for cash shop purchases for this same purpose—they already should have flags in the event someone accidentally discards a piece of their $18 outfit, and would like to pick it back up in-game without having to re-buy, honestly.
SE’s recent “excuse” for making external DLC like Orchestrion Rolls and artbook minions single-character are all supposedly because of how “difficult” it is to send out a bunch of account-wide items to newly created characters. I’m assuming they mean “sending out en masse”, so why not start looking for alternatives to the Mail Moogle? I guess that is an issue regarding manpower, but still. Come up with a system like this, and then incorporate it into the cash shop items so that people feel more justified in spending the asking price.
Star Wars The Old Republic does their cash shop well. You can interact with the outfits in game and try them on, dye them, etc in the outfit window.
Once you purchase them (single character unlocks only), then you have the option to unlock all mounts, pets, companions, weapons, etc account wide for a few cents to a few dollars depending on the rarity level of the item.
Players can claim multiple copies of an item unlocked any time with no cost. If it is account wide you can claim unlimited copies on your other characters. SWTOR has an extremely well thought out and robust cash shop interface.
FFXIV seems to be mired in old design flaws and SE doesn't seem to want to invest in the cash shop infrastructure which is odd considering it can produce a lot of revenue.
I pretty much refuse to buy single character items since I play multiple characters. I also refuse to buy outfits you can not dye. This has greatly limited the amount I spend on the Mog station.

Yeah, stop scamming us SE, everything must be Account-wide!...
It's not like they'd incur in money loss because of that, I'm absolutely sure all it takes to make things Account-wide is just a simple click on their side!...
+1 and signed, absolutely agreed. Several great posts in this thread too.

You want to try making a point without sounding sarcastic and alienating every other person who posted here beforehand? I don't think anyone assumes this is a simple fix, but the account-wide problem needs resolved nonetheless and the sooner, the better.
I cannot sign this aggressively enough.

I would probably buy everything in the cash shop if it were account wide.
