How do you play NIN if you don't have 50< ms? (inb4 you don't)

I mean I love the job but my god the GCD clipping.

And if I'm not clipping my GCDs like some elaborate hedge sculpture I'm spitting out the wrong jutsu because I tried pressing buttons to fast in order to not clip my DPS little by little.

you dont need godlike ping to play ninja. i have over 150 ms and when raiding at late hours i dont clip fuma(wich is what one should be aiming for, as not clipping raiton is near impossible). you just have to get used to not spaming the ten chi jin as they queue the first time you press and will result in a bunny. instead spam the finishing move (fuma,suiton,...)

If the uptime cost in weaponskills over a given fight is not greater than the potency difference between Fuma and Raiton, you should still be using Raiton. The extra half second awards 120 potency, whereas your combo average will take over a second and a half to do the same.

i said it was near impossible not clipping raiton, not that you should never use it. that is for one to decide after having seen the whole fight, invuln phases, etc. like on faust kefka where if id use a raiton on the first minute id lose an aeolian edge right b4 boss gets invuln.
also its not 120 extra potency because fuma is a physical ability and gets buffed by both dripping blades(20%) and slashing(10%).

The slashing would bring the ePot difference down to 96, but Dripping Blades affects all actions, including all forms of Ninjutsu. Unless you're running enough Skill Speed to manage another combo per Shadowfang without losing the global tick, the added uptime in the short-term only pushes you from clipping one tick of SF to clipping two even at minimal (for 5 actions in TA) SkS, wasting a further 40 potency, and placing you back at an effective potency cost of 136. The .5n cost over the fight will matter a lot if losing a combo ender, but within a given SF window, a half-excessive weave can mean a whole lot less if it prevents a clipped tick when the only other option would have been to have SF missing for 1-2 global ticks.

Yup this. Once you do the math, the difference in potency is only 43 points. Generally speaking, that's not really worth clipping into your global cooldown unless you're not on the boss due to some kind of mechanic.
