The difference between answers is pretty huge. Men seem to be much more inclined to want or require a female while just over 30% don't care.

Women seem to care a lot less with over 50% not caring what the gender is!

I think it depends on what each one is looking for as the ultimate goal(even though in the hookup thread they may not state it, they could be trying to use it to find someone to date).

My personal thoughts on the subject though: If you're just looking for a friend, you could be a purple polka dotted elephant for all I care. If you're looking for a relationship(and be upfront about it in the first place!), you would need to be a female as I am a straight male. Honestly, it does depend on what people want to get out of the union as their final goal.

I don't care about r/l gender of the character, but I do want the in game character to be female.

I intended on making it simple because there would be too many options. The aim was that regardless of if it's an RP marriage, marriage for items, or something more, is there a still a preference for a certain RL gender. For example, someone wanting a RL female for a marriage just for the mount or for friendship.

Only assumptions of the intent of votes can be made based off of the results but, the combined amount of males who prefer or require a female is much higher than the female side preferring or requiring a male. So there is a definite disparity!

Simple answer? Nope. Otherwise, my female Miqo'te would have never married my FC buddy, who is a male Midlander Hyru. (We're both guys in RL) I just liked the idea of our fictional characters being a battle couple, since they've been through so much together already in the game.

The ingame character has to be male, I don't care about their RL gender.

Not at all! I resubbed to XIV back in March to keep my house and get access to the forum again. I pretty much stayed quiet but now my sub has ended and I'm on my last day of 14 days allowed here.

I really enjoy observing how people think about things which is why I browse the marriage thread a lot. I also like seeing how men and women differ in their thoughts on things. What do they think? What do they like? So I took my two favorite interests and made a poll!
