I'm curious as to how many coffers it took, because I specifically chose to farm amber-encased vilekin at a time after its respawn had capped and it didn't show after 12+ coffers.
A lot.
It's very unlikely to occur when opening them solo, unless you have a bunch of levels stockpiled on mules.
I wouldn't be surprised if the odds were a tenth of those from opening map coffers.
I could test it myself as I have bunch of leve allowances across 5 mules (All of them have flight access for the Hinterlands), but dedicated hunters on Jenova have been popping Pale Rider before I can xD
Hmm did they change how Squonk works to help with spawns or have I always been doing it wrong? I pulled my chocobo out to heal me and went to do some other things while I let him attack me and use his chirp. I come back and I see someone typed in the say chat in the zone that I needed to let him reset after every chirp. Is that true? I thought most people just afked and let him chirp his heart out in hopes Bird of Paradise would spawn never heard of the reset thing.
What that player isn't true at all.Hmm did they change how Squonk works to help with spawns or have I always been doing it wrong? It works the way you described.
Additionally, if you want to spawn BOP but don't wish to AFK: you can just come back every few hours and get Squonk to chirp a few times.
BOP is actually pretty easy to spot with the upgraded epic render distance of S ranks.
So has anyone figured out the exact spawn conditions for Udumbara yet? We've had it spawn so often on random occasions. Just now I tried for a bit over 1h on Shiva and killed over 100 Leshy/Diakka only for it to spawn 20 min later getting called by someone who doesn't even knew it was an S rank. This hunt is just frustrating.
Doesn't it also need Sapiras?
Yesterday I got Udumbara spawn by killing 100 Leshy/30 Diakka.
30th Diakka spawned it.
In the JP Wiki I linked here:So has anyone figured out the exact spawn conditions for Udumbara yet? We've had it spawn so often on random occasions. it says 50/50/50 of Leshy/Diakka/Sapira. And that's what we go for on our server as well for a few months now. It isn't new news really. Udumbara is the Leucrotta of SB.Also all triggers are listed on this FFXIV JP Wiki.
But that's only because Upper La Noscea is such a small area that it appears to be 'often'. The spawn location is still assigned random, you can't say something like 'It will spawn on one of the first spawn points you hit at max timer.'. It's just RNG being kind if it spawns near the aetheryte.
Yes and no. The 132 hours max spawn is still RNG dependend. We had Kaiser Behemoth's, Gandarewa's, Bone Crawler's and some others that went over the 132 hours mark. Speaking of Bone Crawler .. I spend almost 10 hours on a spawn and he went to over 53:20 hours green on Ariyala which means over 133 hours after the last kill.
Sweet, thanks a bunch for the confirmation. Tried it one time and spend all 100 leves with over 20 chests but without a pop.
Also a thanks for debunking the theory of a specific map location that's needed for a spawn.
But it's still a mystery, really. Some S Ranks aren't under the spell of RNG like Leucrotta, Udumbara and others, just the time at which they open changes. The condition is a fixed number. And some are just RNG heavy and Pale and Agrippa, last one even worse as we know, are basically married to RNG.

I got Udumbara spawn by killing 100 Leshy & 97 Diakka today. (97th Diakka spawned Udumbara)
So I think "killing 100 Leshy & 100 Diakka" is the trigger.
I don't have proof that levequest coffers can spawn The Pale Rider, but I will work on it!Sweet, thanks a bunch for the confirmation. Tried it one time and spend all 100 leves with over 20 chests but without a pop.

I have 8 accounts with HS's first MSQ completed, so I could iniatite several hundred leves for that purpose when I have time.
As for the specific map location, here is undisputable proof of that not being a requirement
https://youtu.be/rT4iqU2z8GQ
This took place on Jenova on Saturday, CST(GMT 6 hours).
The Pale Rider was 'missing' on Ariyala for over 12 hours before this took place.
Many people, including myself; showed up for the previous spawn so we can have plenty players to vouch for his timer being correct.
This wasn't the first time I spawned them on a map location I opened a coffer on multiple times over a very short period, and it won't be the last.
I still think there's a possibility we haven't fully uncovered the trigger conditions for the map S ranks, so I'd like to start off by squashing this particular false rumor.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me!
