Do you think games like that would be free to play without guys like this? That's what I mean when I say "non-whales benefit." The game is free because a small number of fools are spending the money most of the players aren't.

This guy spent $16,000 on one game. It's literally not possible to spend that much on a single FFXIV character unless 95% of it is spent on dyes. Free to play models trap whales by having infinitely repeatable microtransactions, almost always with a random mechanic involved. FFXIV does not have that, and nothing they've done is remotely like that. Having a premium subscription fee is a far cry from taking 16 grand from one person, and I've already provided the math that lays out why.
