No, crafting leves shouldn't leave a long distance from the bell, it is too much time wasting traveling and one may need to make more trips just because this game lacks inventory space. For those who do crafting levequests, should "ingenuity" leves come back in future expansions?
Edit for clarification:
Ingenuity leves are the ones where the leve person and the item recipients are in different locations. The gil and exp reward is quite high. This leve type was not seen in Heavensward and Stormblood.
However, the other two tradecraft leve types of Charity (Triple turn-in) and Constancy (Single turn-in) still remain to this day.

Its a RPG, traveling is par for the course. Having more interaction with NPCs is always a good thing.

No, they should not. Ingenuity leves are great, but the balance for them is very specific: you have to travel at least one zone between grabbing them and handing them in. When you're making level 30 items, the time and even gil cost of doing this are fairly significant. However, level 51+ crafting takes far longer due to using more materials and being much more difficult at the appropriate level, to the point where the time needed to teleport is a trivial addition. The gil cost is similarly tiny for your level. Ingenuity leves give 50% more experience than Constancy leves of the same crafted item level. This would need to be drastically reduced to be balanced with Constancy leves at current expansion levels.
Incidentally, I kind of wish they'd remove high-level Charity leves for the same reason. Making three times the items gets more and more time prohibitive with each expansion.
In ARR, a tier of Ingenuity leves took anywhere between 11-14 HQ items/turn-ins to clear (give or take depending on a few factors) and each tier was every five levels. Plus however many slots for the individual materials, it's probably no more than 20 slots tops. This is significantly reduced if you're doing a medicine item for ALC, a meal item for CUL, or a crafting material (rarely) for any class since those all stack in one slot (plus up to 5 slots for the mats for a maximum of 6). This doesn't take optimizing for efficiency or HW/SB crafting recipes into account, but that's the gist of it.
If you don't generally have at least 20 slots available, then I don't know what to tell you.
That said, with the way they rebalanced crafting leve rewards in HW/SB, they pretty much obsoleted these leves, so I can't see them returning any time soon.

Do players still try to do the full three turn-ins? I mean, I guess it's the better exp. But I've taken to just doing one and done. I don't even really need the exp. As a completionist, I want to do all of them anyway, but I find myself out-leveling the leves very easily. I haven't even hit any of the (L) leves yet, and I'm still out pacing.
But, that might also be because I'm still in HW and I'm pretty sure they recently boosted leve exp by a big chunk. Which is great for leveling, but I actually kinda think I'm getting through content too fast.
As mentioned above, the tissue paper part isn't the issue, it's the extremely clunky mechanics where you have to switch targets between npc and enemy, spam beckon constantly at melee range, they only run a short distance and the npc completely ignores you if they're already moving.
It could be bearable if the npc simply followed you automatically or ran ahead on a set path, like with escort Fates, but the whole "Beckon" thing is tedious.

I certainly stopped doing the triple turn-ins, but Charity leves require triple the items per turn in, so they're still a pain. (I mean, I'm definitely not doing nine complete crafts for one leve.) I actually forgot you could even do multiple turn-ins when I wrote that post!Do players still try to do the full three turn-ins? I mean, I guess it's the better exp. I don't remember how it was when Heavensward was new, but in Stormblood, doing each leve (once) and doing daily GC hand-ins, all HQ, was plenty to get me to max level along with the quest experience and general crafting experience. Tripling up Charity leves is just overkill.
Incidentally, I haven't done any of the Heavensward (L) crafting leves either, though I'm planning to slowly do so just for completion's sake. They are entirely unnecessary in the leveling process, which I assume is why they were not revisited in Stormblood.

I would enjoy their return.
I'd also like battle leves to come back too.

Battle leves never left, they are called "beast tribe quests" mostly. Same thing.
