I didn't like tanking 24 man, but I'd tank it to get the gear.
Now I have no excuse to. I have things to do while in queue, so wait time to dps won't bug me. I have even less incentive to play tank now.

I disagree with Nihility on that queue times were the reason for this change and that more tanks and healers would speed up queues, because in my experience the dps spots are always the last to fill up. In any case there is a flip side to your situation: I like tanking the 24 man and won't need to dps to get alts geared now. So you can join as dps and take "my" loot and I can come as tank and get "your" loot, and we both get to enjoy ourselves a bit more by playing what we prefer most.
According to this translation (at the bottom of my post) that was the whole point of the change. To allow people to play their mains and not be disadvantaged when it comes to rolling for loot. I'm not saying it's the best way to handle loot or that the old system needed to be changed but it does bring some benefits, such as having no downside to playing the job(s) one enjoys the most and the overall quality of groups going up when everyone isn't playing unmelded alt jobs they don't know how to play as well as their main. The people who are comfortable with multiple roles have no reason to wait in queue and can now pick the role which is most in demand without worrying about loot, and this can slightly reduce queue times.
A token system would be the most beneficial to everyone, but the amount of flak they get for implementing a dozen tokens for every piece of content probably influenced their decision. Personally I would like to see every RNG loot method go away completely or have some form of insurance against bad RNG like how the Stormblood leveling dungeons and savage raids work.
