Not really. As you said he had the chance to say at the beginning of the dungeon that he'd like any healer gear drops. I personally roll need on drops I can get for seals etc, and imo when i want a certain drop for a job, i run as that job so I know I can get it. It's just how need/greed/pass works. I'm not massively looking forward to the gear drop changes in 24 mans myself :/
I guess in your case it was a "speak now or forever hold your peace" and even if he asked, he's still not entitled to get it.

Absolutely not. You were queued as a healer, so you were entitled to need on healer drops. Which you did. If he wanted them, he should have run as healer. The way he kept belittling you and being rude, I would have thrown in for good measure right before the last boss, kicking him from the duty. Spiteful? Maybe, but maybe he'd learn his lesson if he got dragged right through to just before the end then removed from the duty and forced to requeue. If he reported you, he would just simply be told "Playstyle differences" by the GMs. So you wouldn't get in trouble. As annoying as it is to lose it, you had every right to roll need on it, he couldn't. As far as GMs are concerned, that's all that matters unless a written agreement in-game is made prior to the loot dropping.

Nope, you are completely in the right here, if that RDM needed the healer gear so badly he should have asked either at the beginning or when the loot first dropped, or went into Expert as a healer class.

I can't stand it when people get so uppity about gear for a class they aren't currently on with no reason stated other than "you're a [insert choice expletive], you should know I totally wanted that for my WHM even though i'm on my BRD!"

If you need it, let the party know!

So, I was in a pretty interesting Emanation (normal) run yesterday. Well, not that interesting, but you'll see. Me (PLD), and my two friends (WHM and RDM) queue for a late trial roulette (around 10:30pm EST, maybe?) and as soon as we load into the instance, I notice that the other tank has his MT stance on. But since I know better, I wait a bit before popping my Sword Oath, knowing that some tanks change their minds when they see the trial they have to MT. But no, he stays in MT. So I pop Sword oath and I get ready to grab the add he doesn't grab. But... all he does is walk in between them and literally face pulls them. Okay.... I grab the right one, thinking he'll aggro the second one, until my friend tells me in voice chat that I'm going to have to MT because the tank doesn't have any stance on.

I look at the party list again and sure enough, he doesn't have a tank stance on anymore. I swear 2000% I saw his stance, I even stared at it to see if he would change it. He had one on. Meaning he decided to face pull the adds... then take off his tank stance? Wut. Anyway, I grab the other add, then I proceed to grab the boss when she comes forward. You can already guess it, he messed up the first vril and he died. I think he was, thankfully, alive for the OT tankbuster and the next vril mech comes around... and he doesn't do it. Even if we're spamming 'vril' in chat. And 'use duty action'. Oh well. Keep fighting, do a few mechs, next vril comes around and he does it properly! So I'm like yay, he got it! Then he died to the next vril (DPS was slow, we saw many). He's rezzed ONCE again and guess what I noticed?

He suddenly pops his MT stance and starts trying to fight for aggro. Mmmmhhh, nope, buddy. Didn't lose aggro once, but I was better geared than him and had accumulated aggro from the whole fight. But it was still weird. I think he died another time after that then we cleared. I wonder if he used a jump potion or something like that. Or maybe he was just drunk...

an interesting rabanasty run...I queued for DR:Alliance as SCH thinking I'd get anything but rabby (the last time I got in was weeks ago), then lo and behold! told the party it was my first try as healer there, and I was too disoriented that I even failed to notice the ongoing drama in chat between our tank and another, until we're at last boss :O our tank stood afk in one corner for most of the fight, and eventually died from mechanics. at the end of the fight it seems he's the one who was stubborn and intentionally did not roll, while there's a handful of us not just from our party waiting for loot. that was when I backread the chat and realized who the other tank was spatting "there's always that one guy" about. it seems they fought about who's MT after 2nd boss. I can't say the other tank didn't do anything to provoke our tank, but that reaction was childish. Eos was so good at keeping him alive he was probably mad he couldn't sulk properly in his corner xD

Crikey. I know I just posted but I honestly don't know what say other than I went to do Leveling roulette on my WAR. I got Great Gubal with a WHM, SMN and SAM. Doing fairly standard puls and i was pleasantly surprised to see the SAM knew how to AOE properly.
Smn asks if I can do a bigger, I reply np if whm wants to try it. They say no 'we have no aoe dps'.. What?
think we sorta sat there a moment like ?? until I reply that we have a SMN and also a SAM who is actually using rather than single targeting.
"Since when summoner good aoe dps?"

I dunno. They only had WHM at 62 so I just.. I dunno. My Egi feel a bit insulted tbh. I think i'm gonna head to sleep and dream of electric carbuncles.

I'll echo what others have said already, just to add up. You were in the right. If they guy wanted healer gear, he can politely ask for it (in which you can or can't accept), or queue up as a healer.

Okay, it's been a few days, I think I've calmed down enough to talk about it now.(

You've proven to be a better person than him, even apologizing for stuff. But don't let it affect you that much, people sometimes have bad days and snap at anyone around. I'll agree he shouldn't play under these conditions either.

I did a whole Hell's Lid run on Sword Oath (after the 4 walls part only really) without losing aggro because I realized DPS was hitting like a wet noodle and without dropping low because the WHM was Cure spamming.

Truly a glorious 22 minute run.

Okay, it's been a few days, I think I've calmed down enough to talk about it now.

Sastasha Normal, I was kicking aroundon one of my alts, one that has only a 60 DRG and a 50-ish SCH, thought I'd get her a unicorn mount, so I queue up as CNJ. Get a 33 WAR, sprout ACN, sprout LNC. Very clean run. We're at the last two trash packs of three before the last boss. We're working on one pack, the other pack was untouched.

Suddenly I see that second pack come to life, one red and two orange, and they come right over and give the ACN a couple of good whacks, one of them goes flying because Carby's on sic, but no harm done, I heal them up, everything's fine. WAR doesn't take them right away, but does a wave emote, I think? So, fair enough, a bit of silliness followed by more silly, that's fine.

I was not prepared for what happened next. (Green = my alt, Red = WAR, Orange = LNC)

At this point I'm SHAKING (hey, I'm a good girl from a quiet home, I'm not used to being yelled at, but I'm getting better at standing my ground, as you can see. In the olden days of FFXI, I would've just logged off from the Dunes and cried) but I exit and look at my contact list...hey, that WAR is on the same server as my alt that just got a strip torn off her for no reason. So I sent him a (very polite!) tell explaining how I thought it was the Arcanist that was at fault, but also that, if I did happen to hit something I shouldn't have, I was very sorry and it was an honest accident. I wished him well, waited about five seconds, did not receive a reply, and hastily logged off for fear of whatever miserable retribution might have followed.

But real talk, if you're in blinding pain, have been so for FOURTEEN HOURS, and (based on the time of day and assuming their location to be NA) have had not one wink of sleep the previous night...is playing a co-op video game really the thing you should be doing? I'm not so sure it is. I probably should have reported him, but...now, honestly, I feel bad for him.

As far as I know if you facepull, they are all red on the person that pulls, so I am not sure what happened. If you think you make a mistake you simply say "sorry for facepulling" But if you where on cnj, the tank was calling you a dps? am i confused or that just their mistake?

I would not say something like "I can't help you with that problem" that is not a good thing to say when things are heated. If you really do not know who agored the pack, simply say "sorry I do not know how it was pulled but I did not mean to if it was really me"

I think you can work on awareness a bit. If something aggros you, you hear a "beep" noise and quick arrow line. likewise if your camera is facing everyone, you see an arrow go to them once they are targeted. You do not get an enmity list till you do an action on it or heal someone with enmity.

As far as I know if you facepull, they are all red on the person that pulls, so I am not sure what happened.

They stay orange until someone actively does something that earns enmity with them, even if you're the one face pulling. In this case it sounds like the ACN accidently cast Bio or something on one of them which turned that one red but the other two stayed orange likely until the ACN was healed.
