The sheer amount of salt from half the raid being oblivious and not doing the mechanic would be epic.

Gosh, why? How about they come up with something a little more challenging than seeing how many people can glue their eyes to a focus target and do a U turn?
Gimmick mechanics have to go.
I think all bosses should have Titan Ex mechanics. You get knocked off and you are locked out of the match for the rest of the fight.
The difference is recovery (and these fights don't have enrages). Being able to revive someone is much better than being down a person for the remainder of the fight. A wipe is almost guaranteed if it's the healers and/or tanks who are banished from the arena until reset/clear.
I cant really get behind this idea for a 24 man raid. The extra 16 players can potentially add enough lag that people with less then ideal connections(or less powerful machines) can end up almost unable to dodge mechanics and have the system recognize it(im sure im not the only one whos ever been all the way outside the aoe before it went off and still got hit because the system didnt see it yet). Besides that, not every battlefield is set up in a way that makes sense for falling and not returning. I would propose a compromise. Fall off and get brought back onto the field after a delay. Maybe Cid has to use some tool to lift us back up(im picturing those claw machines from the arcade) and return us to the field(dead but now resable).
