I don't see this being a problem if it's strictly some sort of aesthetic-only gift or something. Give it no in-game value other than the value of it's style. Can't be any worse than the awful swimsuit I'll never wear again.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
I just bought my first offline computer game (finally have a computer than can do games) and guess what it was? Yep! The first Assassin's Creed. I'm enjoying it greatly apart from having to find all those darn flags LOL Now I just need the rest of the series ^^ Can't wait for the new one, it looks awesome from the trailer and the music is great!I wouldn't mind an AF set that looks somewhat similar to the Assassin's Creed outfit. I agree with another poster that it really looks like something a BLU would wear.
Also, anyone who hasn't played Assassin's Creed should. It's an awesome series. If you like story, you'll love it.
Wait until you get to ACII. Blows the first one out of the water, one of the best games I've ever played.I just bought my first offline computer game (finally have a computer than can do games) and guess what it was? Yep! I don't mind this kind of promotion at all, but I think maybe it should wait until the next AC game comes out, which should be sometime around when the PS3 launch of FFXIV is scheduled, to help promote that launch. I want this game to get all the support it can.
Crossover items/characters/etc are cheesy sales gimmicks that are beneath the FF series IMHO.
Heck, I'm generally against crossovers within FF games (eg Cloud & Aerith in FFT) so I would never support anything from Ubisoft in this game.
They must be getting really desperate with FFXIII-2...

It's what sells though. They pay advertisers and promoters good money to think up ways to reach untapped audiences and it works. Just adding a costume might intrigue people who are normally uninterested XIII to pick it up, and vice versa.. someone who isnt really into AC might give XIII a try. Your movies, video games, music, shows are filled with this kind of cross advertisement, and product placement.Crossover items/characters/etc are cheesy sales gimmicks that are beneath the FF series IMHO.

This guy speaks the truth, no matter what game I play there is almost always some form of product adverts, movies, other games and stuff being slipped into the game unoticed or sometimes just bam in your face kinda style. MGS is extremely infamous for this type of homage. It's what sells though. They pay advertisers and promoters good money to think up ways to reach untapped audiences and it works. Yeah, well this apparently sells as well:It's what sells though. They pay advertisers and promoters good money to think up ways to reach untapped audiences and it works. And this crap FAR outsells Assassin's Creed:
Just because it sells, it doesn't mean it should be part of a Final Fantasy game.
Yeah the aforementioned games sell well too. In fact, a lot of things manage to sell well. The point is you will find product placement in those games too. My personal opinion on whether or not it should be in XIII goes unstated. I am merely stating it is a successful, fairly cheap, marketing tactic. SE is a corporation that utilizes marketing to push it's products.
that's good for them. I would like to bring up to you the fact that even telling someone something like that can be interpreted as "go kill yourself", a clear violation of forum rules. Its just aesthetics, there's other ways to introduce unique gear than to break reality for the sake of a cheap gimmick.
@Vanguard319, congratulations, you've grasped the "We should do it because everyone else does" argument, I would like to bring up to you the fact that there are people jumping off a bridge right now somewhere.
I don't think that's what they were saying at all..you know the idea of "you'd jump off a bridge if everyone else is doing it?"..yes. You should stop looking into what others say so maliciously. You'll save yourself a lot of rage.
