Pardon me for maybe sound totally ignorant but how is this app pay-to-win if all you do is get MB privilege and extra retainer by using the premium version? Sure, you will get dibs on some items and maybe make more gil but how is having more gil than others really helping you win in game? :?
I'm not trying to stir the pot, just wondering if I'm missing something on why this app is such a bad idea.

Do you know how much it costs to penta-meld gear? Millions. Penta-melded gear gives advantages for end game content. If people would be angry at them selling raid tier gear for a premium, why do people not care that people have better control over the market board if they pay a premium?

I'm really getting tired of how people basically say "screw you crafters". I worked hard to get my crafters up and I work hard to make stuff and I work hard to sell stuff. It definitely won't be fun for me when those few whales completely dominate the market board for the most valuable items. I've had it happen before and I promise you it's one of the most frustrating things as a crafter. I literally had to drop out and give up. These were bots, of course. But I don't really think it'll be any less frustrating from a real player who suddenly has 8 more hours in the day that they can constantly undercut with. Sure you have people who simply have no life and do it anyway and you have bots. But I don't want to add to it.

But at this point, I doubt anything I say will make a difference. Lets just all enable SE to keep sucking the money from our wallets / taking our sub money and giving us the lowest amount in return as possible while giving all the best stuff to whales. That's cool.

There is no way to "win" in an MMO, because it's not a race. Rather than arguing the meaning of words it would be more fruitful for people to discuss whether the business model of offering game play altering things in the cash shop is appropriate when we already pay a sub fee, because that is the spirit of all the "P2W" complaints.

My stance is that if it's not cosmetic, it's too far. More item storage space, more simultaneous ventures, more MB slots, mount speed increases, job boosts, retainer job boosts, story skip, in game currencies and non-cosmetic in game items are examples of things that shouldn't be sold with real money in a subscription game IMO.

The reason why I have this stance is because the sub model has in my experience ensured a certain degree of fairness among customers. If the sub model no longer does that then there is no point in paying it anymore, because I can get the experience of being left behind in any F2P game.

Thank you for the explanation! Now I see better why all the concerns. Personally, I think what the app offers is too soon to judge but I understand the dangers better. I'll be holding on my opinion for now.

And yes I've penta melded before, it hurt my gil wallet a bit but not too much.
