Normally I try to keep the tin-foil hat off, but I can't help wondering at the timing of this change. The App turns out to have a Premium version with a monthly fee and we get a brand new currency nobody asked for at the same time official communication with the English speaking player-base on the Live Letter is reduced to a few tweets.
It could just be coincidence, but it does seem the attitude towards the players is undergoing a distinct shift - monetising us as much as possible while reducing our options for offering feedback.
I recall Blizzard started ignoring their own forums and relying heavily on Twitter during WoW's WoD expansion. It did not end well.
