Actually, it is sexist to mock the guy in that case. We just have messed up social norms as a society that also say that particular brand of sexism is okay because reasons. They can laugh at her, but nowadays that is called sexism. You're right about the fact that men can put on feminine clothing and be mocked and laughed at.
This is what we call social norms, it's not sexist to laugh at a guy wearing female clothing, but it's sexist to laugh at a woman wearing masculine clothing.
If people call it out often enough, it'll stop being acceptable too.

I want the bunny ears to create a sort of "Alice in Wonderland" inspired outfit. The ears and cuffs would be for my own "sexy" creation. So it's for my own benefit since looking good is important to me. But just like I want to scrub my eyes when I see potatoes in metallic lingerie, someone will find my get-up absolutely atrocious. Doesn't matter to me though since other people's glams are dead last on the things that affect my enjoyment of the game.Is the pleasure in the fact you like the outfit or in the fact you know someone else will hate it?
I'm reasonably sure you're wearing it for your own enjoyment and hopeful you're not putting together things simply to offend others sensibilities but I'm genuinely curious if I'm wrong.
because there are always people waaaaaaaay too invested in what they think others should/shouldn’t wear :')
I expected no less and was hardly surprised when it took this turn. Usually that's what happens when people have nothing left of value to say and the thread has run its course.
..2 years for THIS?
This must be a joke.
Nice to hear. Hope your new glamour combo looks at great as you envision it to be.I want the bunny ears to create a sort of "Alice in Wonderland" inspired outfit. I have this vision of the people in the concept art and modeling departments constantly looking at the folder marked "male bunny outfit" and laughing because they thought everyone was joking and they could safely ignore it. Then one day the community manager comes over and asks how the male version is coming along because the community is being antsy and they give them blank looks and then go "wait..they really WANT this?"
whether or not you really personally wanted this, can you really argue that it isn't counter popular perception and expectation to desire the sexy, form fitting bunny suit on a guy?

I remember reading that Yoshi (or it may have been someone else) said they were uncomfortable doing these kind of outfits for male characters. After seeing the result, I can't say I blame them, and I still can't understand why some people wanted this so badly.
I find it strange how they find this so uncomfortable yet we have that pig suit, we have countless of subligars, make up for males, the chocobo costume and more. Its kinda funny that its totally fine to have the women in this game being able to dress in barely nothing at all since probably a lot of the designers are male but as soon as you have something more sexy or different for males the same people are like "omg no". Maybe the need more female designers that are doing the male versions if they are somehow not able to do their job and only wants to do stuff that they are comfortable with.
There seems to have been enough requests for this since they did make it. If barely anyone even wanted that they would have just ignored the few but even after two years people still asked them about it and if I remember it correctly on one panel he asked what glamour people wanted and someone screamed bunny set for males and lots of people cheered for that.
For me the suit itself is not worse than a lot of other stuff in this game. I just find it sad that they did not at least change the top a bit.

I thought the male bunny suit was a meme.
To be fair the pig suit I don't see as uncomfortable just silly which is easy to look at. Subligars I put in the same category as silly because it's not meant to be taken seriously and not that bad to look at. The chocobo outfits again falls into the silly category. The simple fact is this outfit in my opinion doesn't look sexy and that's what it was supposed to be going for... it's just not nice to look at it if i'm being perfectly honest. I don't blame people for feeling uncomfortable after seeing it, I mean when I saw they revealed it I was curious on how it looked and the first face I made was a face of someone going "eww". Wouldn't surprise me they will never do it again and I can't blame them. I have to take SE's side on this one.
With that said I'm not going to stop people from using it because if they like the outfit power to them. If you are going to wear it don't be surprised if people don't like what you wear, there is no need to try and change someone's mind on that. Why do you care so much on what people think about when it comes to what you wear in a freaking MMO? It's just pixels...people take this stuff way too seriously.
So far in all my time playing MMOs this the first forum to make this such a huge issue then it really is, maybe it's just because I don't play my MMOs to play dress up simulator.
It's hard to say if there was a lot of requests for it, this is being purely based on panel questions and interviews. I think I remember there was a thread for it but that thread died and at that point it was a small amount of people trying to keep it alive and I'm sure SE knew if they don't do it people will keep asking over and over again. I think it was mainly due to the fact that people kept asking during panels/interviews so it can be seen as a huge request but I hardly saw anyone I know speaking about it or saying they wanted it.

Actually, it was stated in an interview that Yoshida had his female staff working on designing gear and even had them working on the male bunny suit. So, I don't think all of his designers are male and honestly, I don't think the genders of the designers should matter? Orders are orders, and like all employees, they have to follow their boss. I'd say that Yoshida himself might have been uncomfortable with the idea possibly and perhaps a few other employees who thought the NA was joking and not serious. I mean, the EU and JP weren't exactly asking for it non-stop.
