Oh I know but the form of the outfit itself looks like it was made to hold breasts so it does kinda look off to me. Also nice to know that I was not the only one. :'D I would be fine if they left the rest of the outfit but changed the top to a vest or something. Honestly the top looks so silly to me. x)'

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

The Justecorps is exactly the piece I was thinking about; they could reuse the basic model from that, just slim down the silhouette a bit and add long, ruffly tails and the design from the chest of the dress as decoration for the lapels...it doesn't take a lot of imagination to come up with a matching male version that would require minimal new assets to create...

...What world are you living in? If women don't dress conservatively in some places, they're seen as asking to be raped or "looking for trouble". Wearing shorts in the summertime because it's too hot? You look like a slut. Wear a top that exposes your stomach a little? You look like you're asking to be touched. Wearing a top that may show a tiny percentage of cleavage? Like those casual and very nice peasant blouses for spring skirts and outfits? Nope. You totally are asking for it. Sure, a woman could probably wear a guy's top....but, you are delusional if you think that she's not going to get stares or comments behind her back and the same can be, of course, said for guys. There's no middle ground, everything that you wear....the moment you step outside your home, will be judged by others whether you like it or not. It's up to the person wearing those clothes to determine if it's worth paying attention to other people's influence or not. This isn't a problem that is cemented in either gender, it's just a problem that everyone faces going out into the public regardless of who you are.

And that's not even getting into other scenarios where women and men are constantly judged for what they wear in professional and casual settings.

They can laugh at her, but nowadays that is called sexism. You're right about the fact that men can put on feminine clothing and be mocked and laughed at.

This is what we call social norms, it's not sexist to laugh at a guy wearing female clothing, but it's sexist to laugh at a woman wearing masculine clothing.

Well, if we're going to say this, we can also say that there's no such thing as female-only clothing in real life.

Also, why did I know this thread would devolve into arguing about gender/social norms?

Because people never cease to be predictable.

Because as a race, humans are the most judgmental and paranoid creatures....and what Avatre said too. :P

I'm living outside of those 'some places', somewhere more representing of the majority of the world countries. Because, you know, looking at the minority is like going under roof to get a tan. It won't do you any good except waste time.

You mentioned places where showing skin can bring troubles to women. You know there are places where full nudity is allowed? That there are places where full or near full nudity is standard? Even places where full nudity is required? Yeah...

In general, it is not a problem. There will be people barking away at a scantily clad woman, but in the first place, that's not what we are even talking about. We are talking about women wearing clothes theoretically designed for men and vice versa. Most designs for men are far from revealing to begin with, so even in those places a woman still could wear male clothes without issues, while there is hardly any place in the world where men can do the same wearing skirts or dresses and not be universally ridiculed. The only one that really comes to mind is Taiwan, but truth be told, some of those men look more feminine than the average woman on their best day...so yeah. Bad example.

You picked a part of my post completely out of context and then went on some weird "war" against it. Congratulations, I guess?!

What on earth are you even talking about living somewhere more representing of the world countries? Each country has their own culture and take on gender/social norms. There is no such thing as one country representing another more strongly and vice versa. That's just jargon that you're trying to use to make yourself sound more enlightened about the subject, but then you go and say things that I didn't even address? Talk about a huge take on strawmanning words here.

How does a place that allows full nudity compare to a place where women are beaten to death for showing any type of skin in public? Like, goodness....and even if the male clothing isn't revealing on women, why would you think that would stop anyone from staring at them or chastising them in public? I didn't think there was this magical barrier that protects women from staring and impolite conversation just because they wore a man's polo instead of a blouse.

Congrats on missing the point because you're a tad ignorant and delusional on the greater picture around you...? People being judged for what they wear has been a social construct and problem since forever, and it's even more prevalent in today's society where we have a greater diversity of people. What one country does over another doesn't change that fact, you can't change how people perceive one another if they don't want to adapt towards change themselves.
