    People don't play tanks because
    1. Someone at Blizzard HQ had the bright idea of making Damage Dealing a role instead of incorporating it into the other roles, thus dooming all games thereafter to have unbalanced game populations.
    2. Tanks are like damage dealers that do less damage and have actual party responsibilities that impact whether everyone lives or dies. Therefore no one plays them because they play these games to escape responsibility.

DPS in need on the top 3 roulettes at the same time.. not as rare as you might think.

That said I don't tank dungeons cos they're boring.. but to be honest tanking in general is getting boring personally. it's more about dps than survival. which kinda ties in to what someone said above. tanks are basically dps jobs with some mitigation gimmicks, and I don't really find that fun these days. if I want to dps i'll just play dps.

also fights being so scripted there's not much variation in cooldowns because you know exactly when the nexrt tank buster is coming sometime over a minute in advance......

I see Healer in need daily, and DPS in need on occasion. As it is, I feel people would be more inclined to tank, if the Healers would learn to stop pre casting HOTs and The dps could figure out how to focus the same target and not accidentally body pull things by running too far ahead of the tank. It seems most people go out of their way to make things more difficult for the tank, through ignorance or on purpose, and I think that is why you see a lack of tanks for the most part.

That's as frequent as the Halley's comet, come on lol. If you play late at night, you might see something like that, but generally Tank is the role in the most demand for roulettes. Or have a look at the party finder too for endgame content, see how many empty blue spots you can find.

I play tank and I enjoy it.

I do feel at times that all eyes are on me, and that there are certain types of people who are willing me to make a mistake so they can call me out on it. I’m not sure what the reason is, whether they feel insecure themselves about tanking and feel that no one else should be able to do it ok if they can’t, idk.

In dungeons and trials if the dps or to some extent the healers die, they just get revived and often no one notices or says anything. A run can take forever due to bad dps or big numbers of deaths from the dps and more often than not, no one says anything, but if the tank misses a cooldown and ends up wiping the group it can be another story, depending on who you’re with. :P

I’ve noticed in extreme or savage that this turns on its head and have seen many an argument about bad dps, not doing mechanics, and dps/healers dying a lot. I think enrages help highlight bad dps including mechanics and creates a situation of group responsibility.

I personally enjoy tanking a lot more than the other two roles. I don't enjoy having to sit there worrying about if my damage numbers are high enough, or staring at people's health bars from the entire run. I don't mind being the point man or screwing up. I find in many cases if people screw up, the majority of them just pick themselves up and try again. Yes, I've had my share of people who think they can tell me how to tank, and I have had my share of people who have abandoned after a single wipe. I find communication to be the best way to manage the anxiety of the job. If I don't remember a fight, I simply let people know, and the ones who remember will tell me. If it's my first time in an instance, again, I tell people.

No tank meter, boooooring. With dps you can try to fine tune the encounter and see the results. Also tank can't outdps me, I always try to outaggro the tank

I enjoy being the first in to battle and mixing it up with the big bad. While I enjoy other classes in occasion tank will always be my main. I've actually started seriously leveling warrior and am going to do dark knight next. I just find it fun.

That said I do notice that tanks are needed quite often in the roulette but since I play tanks I seldom see that as a problem.

Just low tank count in low lv content, in savage raid content there are more tanks than melee. In static raid content there are even more tanks than good healers.
