Somewhere in one of those many magazine interviews they stated that only the Umbral Era missions will be discontinued, but that the current main storyline will remain, although, with adjustments. At no time have they said that they plan on scraping the main non-Umbral event storyline. The only real question is what adjustments will be made to it.

The final mission in the main scenario, Futures Perfect, shows the Empire in Mor Dhona talking about the coming calamity.

The Seventh Umbral Era events are about the Empire trying to use the Aether around Mor Dhona to summon a Primal as that area is most effected by whatever is up with the lesser moon, Dalamund.

The entire reason the Empire has invaded Eorzea in the main scenario is to obtain the power of Primals under the guise that they're trying to kill the Primals to prevent the coming calamity.

We know that the Seventh Umbral Era events lead to the calamity.

Why would they have a series of quests in the game about an "approaching calamity" that has already happened?

It's obvious that those main scenario quests will be gone in 2.0. They'll start fresh with a new series of quests.




Oh, look. One of the map concept for 2.0 where the Empire already is in Eorzea!

The main scenario deals with rumors that the Empire is pushing past Ala Mihgo and into the Black Shroud.

What would be the point of those quests when the Immortal Flames already are on the frontlines against them?

I know Mr. Yoshida has cryptically mentioned in the past that they'll "get back to" the main scenario after they establish the Seventh Umbral Era events. But that in no way means "after 2.0."

These quests will make no sense in 2.0 because 1) The Empire will already be in Eorzea and 2) The calamity already will have occured.

I agree, my first impressions of the changes are not good ones from the notes but, I will wait and see.

I never said your theories are wild or crazy. They are perfectly viable. My theory just makes more sense to ME based on what I have seen in the game and what I have read in interviews.

Unfortunately, I can't find said interviews, so I have no real proof of my conviction. Therefore I am not pressing the issue.
