I agree. I like the idea of having flexibility when it comes to role-playing, but too much freedom is a bad thing in this instance. Role-playing is best when it's done within semi-realistic constraints. Keeping jobs and races distinct lends extra weight to the choices one makes when creating their character and choosing their primary job(s). It would also give SE the option to really add to the depth of their game world, because clothing could be used to emphasize things like the geographical origin of individual jobs, or the cultural history of various races, as an example. That would lead to a much richer experience than what we have right now.

Also, I really wish they'd do something about Glamours in combat scenarios. Watching a tank charge into a crowd of monsters wearing swim trunks really shreds whatever sense of immersion still exists within FFXIV. I'm not sure how they'd fix this, but there are options; maybe introduce some sort of level 1 "leisure" job that players can switch to (but one that can't gain XP). Then, restrict all of these purely Glamour-focused, non-combat outfits to this new job.

Edit / Addition: Within these restraints, I certainly agree with the masses think there should be a reasonable degree of equality across jobs, genders, and races. It doesn't have to be an absolute 1:1 match, but there shouldn't be a large disparity.
