Looking Fabulous!
Here here. It's about time too.
Better late than never?
I kind of agree. They would have more freedom with how they can design outfits for just one gender if they don't have to obsess over how to translate it over to the other.
...Of course my (and I'm sure many others') condition on that would be keeping the ratio of that kind of gear 1:1, and entirely cutting out that pathetic habit of theirs where they made a gender-locked set for females and the male-version is unisex. Recently though, so far so good (I think).
I agree. I like the idea of having flexibility when it comes to role-playing, but too much freedom is a bad thing in this instance. Role-playing is best when it's done within semi-realistic constraints. Keeping jobs and races distinct lends extra weight to the choices one makes when creating their character and choosing their primary job(s). It would also give SE the option to really add to the depth of their game world, because clothing could be used to emphasize things like the geographical origin of individual jobs, or the cultural history of various races, as an example. That would lead to a much richer experience than what we have right now.
Also, I really wish they'd do something about Glamours in combat scenarios. Watching a tank charge into a crowd of monsters wearing swim trunks really shreds whatever sense of immersion still exists within FFXIV. I'm not sure how they'd fix this, but there are options; maybe introduce some sort of level 1 "leisure" job that players can switch to (but one that can't gain XP). Then, restrict all of these purely Glamour-focused, non-combat outfits to this new job.
Edit / Addition: Within these restraints, I certainly agree with the masses think there should be a reasonable degree of equality across jobs, genders, and races. It doesn't have to be an absolute 1:1 match, but there shouldn't be a large disparity.

I feel like the fact that we're a bunch of catbois, dragon ladies and sentient potatoes throwing magic at monsters kinda boots realism out the window though.
I'm glad SE made these glams accessible, I know it was desired by a fair few people. Grats guys!:3

If you roleplay, that's fine. There are other people who are totally into the tiny chick with a big axe diving into the fray in bikini armour fantasy. Maybe you can ask for or fund a mod that, under user-defined conditions, replaces certain people's gear appearance with job artifact gear in your client? Impractical, but so is expecting everyone to know what you do and don't approve of and accommodate for that when they get matched with you.
I wouldn't mind gender restrictions if guys got gear in equal measure. If you're going to lock the female gear, lock the male set as well. Like Cidel said, none of that half-ass lock the female and make the male unisex nonsense. And don't release a set for one gender and give nothing for the other. That's the only real reason I've asked for unlocked everything- I can't trust SE to give guys a fair deal when it comes to gear set locking.
Oh? Would you really be okay with this if you were on the side with less options? Somehow I doubt that.

Iunno, to me immersion hinges upon sticking to the foundation laid out in the game world. I can accept a game working within a foundation of multiple cooperating races / species and involving magic. I can also accept a game wherein dungeons are entered into via a magical Duty Finder, because sometimes compromises are needed for the sake of gameplay.
Glamours, on the other hand, defy the foundations laid throughout the game world. It defies the clothing conventions of NPCs in the vast majority of cases; it defies the foundations laid by the gear system, wherein there's a strong correlation between one's defensive prowess and the thickness of one's armour. Hence, for me, it shreds the immersion a good bit more than a bolt of lightning coming from a BLM does.
there you go guys you now have your veara race
