I admitted several times this isn't something I care about a ton as it isn't something that directly impacts me or really anyone I play with. No, I'm not going to go read a bunch of threads about it for the sake of responding to this one.

I clicked this thread with the intention of adding my "grats guys! happy for you! :3" to the pile and instead I see a bunch of people whining like babies that it isn't what they wanted.

How are you guys so entitled that you expect SE to be designing glams around what you want? I can't wrap my head around it.

I can't really recall when it was in the past couple of years, but I do remember them saying that it'd take some time because they had to redo them for males from scratch. I don't think that was the only reason for the delay though. It probably wasn't a priority for them and they just wanted to get it out of their way...so here we are. This is the impression I'm being given at least. I'm glad that it's happening mostly so I don't have to hear about it anymore...or hear/see people ask about them at events like Fanfest and Pax, which should be a place to answer more important things. But I can understand why people may be disappointed.

This would also be cute. My boyfriend has a similar glam using wedding pants, some sort of cuffs and now he can toss bunny ears on top!

It's especially jarring when you consider pieces of gear like the coliseum chestpiece. That does a good job at showing off the male form in a way that is sexy and conventionally attractive. I'd also point to games such as Overwatch and Soul Calibur as examples of fan service done well for male characters. McCree's lifeguard outfit is very easy on the eyes and shows off a lot of his physique. In one of the recent trailers for Soul Calibur 6, meanwhile, Mitsurugi loses more and more of his armour during battle and he's, uh, packing in his loincloth...and his muscles are shown off pretty nicely.

I'm tired of so much focus being placed on feminine gear/hairstyle options for male characters in FFXIV.

Well WHM AF3 gear trousers for female are a thong and for male are trousers that reach your ankle.

I never said females don't get burned by this situation too, they do, just in different ways. The bottoms for the AF1 WHM set is why I'm grateful you can glamour as early on as level 15 now.

"Make from scratch" =/= "design from scratch". It's not a copy/paste because it needed to be made from zero...based to the same design. The only copy/paste here are the ears, since those did not need to be changed in shape to match the male physique.

Do understand that clothes REPLACE the body layer. This is how this game is designed. They are not added on top as a separate layer, using 3D models that adapt to the model of the body by stretching etc. They are made exactly how they look. That's why it takes ages to make an entire set for all the races and genders. They need to make them one by one. Even if the design is the exact same on all male for example, they need to make a set for Roegadyn, a set for Au Ra, a set for Miqo'te, a set for Elezen and a set for Hyur (clearly a different set for Lalafells as well). Then the same for female. So instead of making two sets (one per gender) and just making slight correction to how the engine will modify it on the model, they need to make twelve. They did not want to invest originally to make proper 3D models and have a decent engine...well, they probably spent way more money on glamours over the years making them one by one.

There is no such thing as copy/paste due to server limitations...except for designs themselves. And sorry, but with how popular the bunny suit is, there really is no reason to consider the design take any significant amount of time, regardless of gender.


On a different note, the chippendales suit is what?! Pants, a collar with a bow tie and shirt cuffs. Really, just ask for a bow tie and you have chippendales suits aplenty. I think there are shirt cuffs somewhere in some set, but you could ask for that too. There is NOTHING bunny in their suits...They have nothing in common with the casino bunny suits or casinos themselves altogether. They just happen to perform in them, just like any other dancing group can.
