Cutscene skipping "peer pressure" What is it? Why does it exist? Why care?

The first time I ran Rabanastre, I watched the cutscene before the final boss. It's about thirty seconds long, maybe. The alliance pulled the boss and locked the fight before I finished, so I never got to participate in that battle. That's one reason not to watch.

Second reason is that one party member said "watch cutscenes in your inn on your own time, don't waste MY time" before leaving. Over thirty seconds. THIRTY SECONDS. These people exist.

I can see why some people skip cutscenes rather than dealing with this.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I skipped all new cutscenes because I believe in showing consideration for the other 3-7 players in the given dungeon/trial.
(I've always been one for the minority supporting the whole team)
I'm not one of the "I must watch it AS it happens or it feels watered down" group though. I'm happy enough to watch them back at the inn.

As far as the "pressure" goes, I don't feel any really in that regard, but when I was a "new" player I did feel a degree of pressure when I was on NA servers as a tank with the group pushing me to go faster and pull larger groups (even though to me my HP was dropping faster than what I'd assume a healer could cope with)

For the most part, I think the pressure people feel is just their own expectation of others behavior, be it their own perception or previous experience.

I did indeed, and one person said 'not your fault', but the person I mentioned in my post made a snide remark about how you should always skip cutscenes in group content. I didn't reply to that, and later when they made the 'don't waste my time' comment, they left before I could reply. No one else said a word about it.

Garuda is 2.0 (unless you mean EX), and like Shiva/Ramuh it's less of an issue as the fight itself is so short.

So what's the point that it's 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0? The fact is that the cutscene is pretty long. Doesn't matter how long the fight itself takes.

I only takes 1 person to pull. It's 23 other people. You really cant be surprised, especially since you cant see who is viewing cutscenes across alliances.

How did you get locked out? If you were running with your group normally, you'd be there the same time they pull, even if they had no pause for the pull. The cutscene triggers when someone enters Argath's room. You should basically be right outside in the worst case; it still has 15s lockout.

Also, it's 23 people. At the end of the day, this isn't a single-player game. Cutscenes should be outright removed from 24man content (and really all multiplayer content). You're basically saying you value your time more than that of 23 other people.

It shows they aren't still making stupid cutscenes like CM/Prae. Did you read the post you replied to?

I mean outside of the MSQ roulette dungeons cut scenes aren't long anymore which impact players. There is no reason to kick someone over watching an instance intro, and I've never seen that happen.

MSQ roulette is its own beast, and the devs have ended the the problem there. If you are bothered watching them, don't queue.

I hear there are REALLY LONG cutscenes for some special dungeons (not there yet still new to game). Those are probably...interesting to deal with.

The cutscene triggers when the “first person over the line” enters the boss arena, and raids can be a very wide-spread group - and as a mage I tend to be trailing at the back more often than not.

I also got locked out at this point. It’s a thirty-second lockout and the cutscene still took longer.
