Nah, the leve mechanics are fantastic now. It's the reward balance that makes it not worth it to use them for anything but crafts. EXPs faster outside of leve, mats are gathered faster outside of leve, the faction rewards are weak now, guild marks won't exist soon... it's not that the SYSTEM is bad, it's fantastic. It's just... why bother? They fixed it just in time for its usefulness to wane. Hopefully they'll spruce it back up.

My only disagreement with this is leves shouldn't be the highlight of the game anymore, while I won't argue that better rewards wouldn't be a nice touch, if you make xp equal to that of a party then the party will suffer, etc. Party should always be the best way to gain xp (IMO) otherwise you'll have what we had last January, where people didn't want to party because it was faster solo.

It's a game of cat and mouse. I for one would love for them to introduce more types of leves and open up new leve locations, but that might not happen for a while.

I got 99 problems, and a leve isn't one.

By the way, is anyone having trouble trying to keep their leve numbers down? I've tapered off on playing the game (because of its current status) and I cannot for the life of me keep my leve number below 99.

I think the lowest i have gotten my allowance counter down to was in the mid 60's.

Not that i'm complaining. its a good "problem" to have.

Well i got around 200k in maybe 3-4 hours just using Hasty Hand and taking only Roarich Leves, got me from 48 to 50 in a blink (a 3-4 hours blink). Plus i got like 6 stacks of Ingots and some gil.
For me, Local Leves are the way to go as DoH. And as for DoL, i like to use them to take me from "#5" to "#9" right away (15-19; 25-29; 35-39). And for DoW/M, i guess it's pretty silly, but it's good if you have little time to play and have 99 leves saved.
So yeah, I love the leve system as it is now, the previous team had planned all the game to revolve around guildleves, but the new team decided it was just another element in the Eorzean lore, not the main and most important one.

Yeah..... when I leveled gathering I'd just grab two, complete them, then return to grab the next set. It's more SP per hour. Also, locals I couldn't do without. I don't usually grind my last two levels for crafts. I just turn in locals and it's just as fast, if not that, than faster to 50.
