Yeah..... when I leveled gathering I'd just grab two, complete them, then return to grab the next set. It's more SP per hour. Also, locals I couldn't do without. I don't usually grind my last two levels for crafts. I just turn in locals and it's just as fast, if not that, than faster to 50.

I did this on WVR XD but the whole 39-50 stretch, took just over 100 leves and in only 4 days tops (wasn't solid playtime either!). Since the update changing the level of linen this was the only really great thing to grind for exp... on the plus side; I didn't have to use a bajillion earth shards, kept my linen thread stockpile (so now it can collect dust) and made a couple mil selling flax

Now kinda in that groove with LW, but I think that will 27>>50 on leves XD ;; ... my poor chocobo will be so tired!

Nah, the leve mechanics are fantastic now. It's the reward balance that makes it not worth it to use them for anything but crafts. EXPs faster outside of leve, mats are gathered faster outside of leve, the faction rewards are weak now, guild marks won't exist soon... it's not that the SYSTEM is bad, it's fantastic. It's just... why bother? They fixed it just in time for its usefulness to wane. Hopefully they'll spruce it back up.

Don't say that. Of course EXP is faster outside of leves, but when you suddenly have some time online where you don't feel like playing i PT, or don't have any of your mates online, it's great. I got my THM 48-50 in one day only doing leves. Guardians favour + 4 stars = 10k exp per leve more or less at rank 48. In other words: 10-12 leves per level.
The "new" system with how exp is rewarded, also leads to it being easier to do other leves than the previous Broken Water fail and retry-leves, which also leads to more exploring.

Did a faction leve as well the other day, and got my Vintage Jester's Cap, which is still a good mage head. There are some other nice rewards out there as well - and the achievements of course
