Second, the shield types (noct and gav) will overwrite each other, regardless what is stronger or weaker. (Weaker gav effects overwrite noct shields, but will have no effect messages with other gav shields, it is possible where kiasai got confused) This is what drives me nuts. So 2 AST should have different sects on while sch and ast, ast should be using diurnal.

All shielding is mp inefficient. Shielding is generally only effective when it allows a player to survive an attack that would have otherwise killed them (edit-also consider time spent healing if shields not applied, even if not 1shot; I did say generally, always fringe examples). Most players spam shields far too often.

This makes me look like a saint. I had a tank in Doma Castle wearing 120 Ironworks.

And stuff like this is why future leveling dungeons should at least have some sort of item level requirement. But such advice is going to fall on deaf ears because of "Roulette" and some other excuse another can come up with.

At the first boss, one of the healers was attempting to heal me, and instead fumbled and rescued me into the hourglass instant death cone AoE.

Speaking of WOD, got it as a tank. My first time tanking in raids.

First boss and I think "I'll MT I know the strat", but one DRK jumped in and caused a wipe because he kept turning the boss around.
Also some people didn't know some mechanics, which is okay, some people might be new.

After explaining the mechanics, I decide to MT and go head first...except that a bard activated the LB and aggroed the boss.
No matter I provoke and combo the boss to gain aggro and place it in the middle with its back turned to the rest of the raid.
But the same DRK decided it would be fun to steal aggro from me, which he did several times despite my attempts to regain it with combos, provoke and other skills.

Wipe again thanks to him. And the raid ended in everyone voting to abandon it...

3-5 dead in a 24 man I can understand such a statement, but having only 3 people alive out of 8? this means it would be the tank, you, and the RDM is doing the carrying would be the only ones alive. I mean that is how close they where when it came to being close to a wipe, 2 different points in the fight. That is why it took 14 mins for that O8N, because people where dead large amounts of time. Also, only 2 never died once, that was the tank and the RDM, if one of those did die, it would of wiped. That is why she was so mad, it was a lot of pressure to be perfect with DPS rotations, on top of staying alive, healing and raising.

Like i said, i might not. I play a class with no unique abilities that are cast on other team members(just a couple role skills which i dont even always slot - aside from shift which is a fixture for me), so i dont often look at the party list. Its off in the corner of my UI so it doesnt interfere with targeting, dodging, and maintaining my rotation. The fight in question is mostly avoidable attacks - and i avoid them as often as i can(typically in the 95+% range). I try to stand in aoe heal range(read as: toward the middle somewhere) for the room-wide attacks, and i stack on the stack marker if i havent ended up on the far side of the stage from the one targeted. I would notice if not enough people were stacking, but sometimes that just means that the players made it to 70 raids without learning what to do for that. Am i running over or standing near a pile of corpses? Id notice that while dodging. If i stayed up for most of the fight(rather then just dying after i took enough unavoidable damage to down me), it means that someone was able to heal up the unavoidable damage i took. I might notice that i was being hit by "ver" heals or clemencies rather then the normal ones, which would raise the odds that id see what was happening. In her specific group you say everyone else died an unspecified number of times. Being dead, i would certainly have a moment to take in the full scene and notice how many other people were down. Take a sec to cheer on the people still going, or prepare for the upcoming wipe - depending on how its playing out.

At no point did i say she was wrong to feel the way she does. She qued for an easy fight and got dropped in the pressure cooker by random players(whether due to not knowing the fight or just shoddy play). It isnt a fair situation, but i know that it happens - i think we all do. Ive even been that DPS trying to hold things together as the rest slowly die off. Only, as a BLM, all i can do is hurt the enemy and try to avoid damage(no heals or raise to turn the tide). Ive completely saved fights at the last second(no other DPS, healer down, tank falls and i get off the killing spell/LB just as the enemy goes to finish me) and not gotten a single comm for it before myself. Ive just leaned not to take it personally. *shrug* Your friend sounds like a good player who id be happy to have in my group any time. Id still probly forget to comm her though. Nothing personal.

Took my first 30 minute penalty ever yesterday. Brayflox Longstop. Plenty of reasons for doing so.
1.Tank was Gladiator No Soulstone Just Gladiator in Level 22 tank gear (Examined)They had less health than I did as healer.
2.They didn't know where they were going and took five minutes alone just to realize they couldn't jump the fence .(I offered help No Reply)
3.They would not Flash, Mitigate, or Anything a Tank is supposed to do so I was literally healing everyone in the party.Because they would single target the entire time.(Offered advice. No Reply)
4.They purposely rain the raincatcher into everyone to ensure they got poisoned. (that's where I took the 30 right after I finished healing up the dps and that tank.And said."I'll take the 30." I can put up with a squishy tank I really can but when they do this kind of thing on what seems to be on purpose that's where I will draw the line may they never complete a dungeon as a tank until they learn to tank.)

Started leveling my WHM again (at 50) for the first time since ARR.

Join into a group and the first thing I said was "I DONT DPS" followed up with "JK, just take it easy on me its been a while since I WHM'd".

We are in Brayflox Longstop Hard, which I love. The tank decides to go super speed run, I keep him topped up as hes pulling the first massive pack. He got a bit too far ahead of me so I benedictioned him then proceeded to Holy Spam the crap out of the group. We clear with no issue, except the tank calls me out for not DPSing!!!!

To be fair, you often get people in Brayflox without Job stones attached as the level of the dungeon is so close to level 30 people probably haven't yet done the quest or just forgot to attach as it's still new to them. Likewise, if he was new to the dungeon I'd expect that to be the case here. However, that small defence aside, there is no excuse for failing to take advice or not mitigating /using flash. I tell people they should be flashing so much they might get arrested for exposure. I'm not even going to talk about running mobs into the group to purposely afflict them or leaving aggro on the group.

I wouldn't have left though, I'd have vote kicked him instead and explained you've had multiple offerings of advice and ignored them. You're not doing your job and purposely harming the group.
