Unlike seemingly most of the playerbase, I couldn't stand this NPC. Felt basically how most people did about the moogles in Churning Mists (and appropriately enough, I was fine with the moogles and couldn't see what got people so riled up about them)

Magnai's too funny but he'll end up with that Au Ra leader (the black mage one which hates him), their personalities would make for great soulmates. By the way this is great, so much creativity and work.

It was how it was presented. The Moogles were quite literately not tactful about how they were getting the adventurer to do all their chores. They're a far cry from the FF6 moogles who came to the adventurer's rescue. These moogles, even during the moogle beast quests have to be drugged to do anything.

At any rate some of us got rather irritated at the moogles side quests because they were more like hide-and-seek than the fetch-and-retrieve quests done up to that point. I get changing up the ideas every so often, but really in an MMORPG you only have four types of quests: Kill something, Find/Gather something, Escort someone, or Conversation chain quests. All other quests tend to use one of these four as a basis. There are plenty of "hide-and-seek" quests in the game, but they're mostly relegated to the sightseeing log.

Like the kind of thing I'd want to see happen in an MMORPG is to actually make crafting something that isn't a pointless timesink. For that to work the game has to have a closed-loop economy, and unfortuately most P2W freemium games can't make money if they can't flood the game with junk. So for that, I'm at least glad that FFXIV isn't full of gachapon.

At first I didn't like him because he was arrogant, sexist, and I'd want to yank out his braids by the roots and shove them down his throat IRL...but then I started finding him funny because he is SUCH an homage to the typical desperate single (of either gender) that it's funny to watch him get turned down constantly. Call it schadenfreude. Like bro, calm down, go eat a pint of ice cream, and find yourself before you try to track down your soulmate. XD
