I finally hit LV20 today~ Got my first Anemos weapon and armor set for my DRK that desperately needed gearing lol I'm now 3 Panini feathers away from another weapon too.

Final thoughts on Eureka, I enjoy it. Does it have its flaws and need work? Absolutely. I wish there were dailies or something to break up the NM trains. I also wish that chaining mobs was more lucrative. Any mob that doesn't spawn an NM is essentially worthless. It'd be great if they added special quests and drops from those enemies. Also, I kind of wish lockboxes gave out Crystals. I feel like that would definitely motivate people more. I have 800+ sitting in my invo because I don't wanna open them. And then there's inventory space, which is what's preventing me from getting Anemos armor for my other jobs...>_>

I will say though, the people you play it with definitely affect your enjoyment. I've had parties that literally don't speak and they're so boring. And I've had others that are very talkative and funny. Also, while it sucks to die a ton in Eureka (and you will die), it also feels really good to finally get to a level where you can obliterate mobs that used to one shot you. (Though please SE lower the radius mobs will chase you so people don't drag 50 adds into an NM fight and decimate everyone)

Edit: ALSO the party system. Please do something about that.

Compared to how many trivial warnings they have ("oh you want to buy healer gear while on a DPS even though you have leveled healers, are you really sure?"), this is probably a case where it's actually warranted. You very rarely want to release past whatever level the penalty kicks in, given the penalty. The dialog box doesn't even mention it, just that text way back at the start.

(And yes it does. Like I said, tired. Was a long day. Wasn't paying close enough attention, just saw a res macro with my name on it and whacked the button. Turned out it was a hardcast and hadn't gone off yet...)
You know what shocks me about that post? not long after they went to defend one of those useless messages (though deleted I am sure it was deleted for the very reason to defend SE) and here they basically state that a exp message loss is not needed. Do you find that as double standard? it does not have to be much, just add some text in the raise box on how much exp you lose. Even though I made the mistake 0 times getting to level 20, it is because I really made an effort to remind myself I do not want to lose 2 + hours of work over something caused from being mindless. Even though I personally did not need it, I still find it confusing it is not stated somewhere in the homepoint message.

So ya I am very confused how someone can defend not having some sort of message added in the homepoint box about losing exp and how much you will lose on return (no added dialog box though plz, we don't need more menu bloat)

Man, for someone who hates when people "put words in their mouth" or "speak for them" this is kind of... ironic? Also, there is already an extra step to return when dead, adding more would just add even more "bloat" as you call it. For someone who dislikes the tome message, this seems like it would bother you just as much. But I'm not going to try to fathom your reasoning.

I am actually ambivalent on the tome message, I don't care either way. Thanks for assuming my opinion on it though!

To complain about putting words in your mouth then do it in the next sentence is double ironic? is that possible? or did this come from lack of reading? I thought I made it VERY CLEAR what I was talking about when I said "message added in the homepoint box about losing exp and how much you will lose on return (no added dialog box though plz, we don't need more menu bloat)"

This means just adding some text to that text box that talks about you will be auto homepoined in 10 minutes. (I do not remember it from word for word) I was simply trying to make it clear what I was asking for, and not another pop up added to the mess.

I do not assume nothing, I simply pointed out what you did. Trying to distract people that you made it very clear you made a reply to Tridus while leaving out a critical point in the post because you just want to defend SE?

Yes I know it's not the same button, but still. They warn you in this game over so many bloody trivial things and they don't even mention it in the dialog at all for that?

(Also, why is level loss a thing in this day and age? It's not 1998 anymore.)

Do you understand the concept what it is like to be human? or even read the post? Ill bold a key part then you can try your reply again.

I find it offensive how often you do that sort of thing. Why do you care more about defending SE then treating people like people?

I find this rather insulting. All I pointed out was the fact they added a hold to return to avoid accidentally clicking it when you thought you had a raise. Thanks for attacking me saying I missed their point, while entirely missing mine. Maybe you need to look in the mirror.

You continue to act like you are innocent in all of this, and other people just attack you. I am simply done at this point.

Just tried it again to see the supposed changes, after 60 minutes of chaining straight solo, I achieved 23% of my level going from 9->10. That's still a little over 4 hours a level. Pretty slow, and it's not like you're getting anything else besides experience (I didn't even get a single protean crystal). Still seems like the hunt train is the only way to get anything really done. Which I'll reiterate a million times, is not new content, just S ranks all localized to one big zone.

Which makes me a little curious, as I've played since they introduced hunts in ARR. I was burnt out extremely quickly on S ranks and such, I wonder if those who enjoy this style of gameplay in Eureka right now have done hunts before or is this genuinely new to them? This might explain some things.

This is more of a set of initial experiences rather than first impression, but maybe it will be helpful for someone.

I leveled to 5 purely by soloing during the first week of Eureka.

Leveled to 6 by combination of soloing and low-level NM leeching (managed bronze at best on them because solo, but it was still substantial XP boost) still during the first week.

Leveled to 7 in a group with one level 20 and other low level characters; we spawned three low NMs (no trash monster XP though) and joined on few others happening nearby, getting silver/gold from them. This was the most time I spent in Eureka at once (almost 2 hours); usually I didn't endure longer than one 30 chain. This was at the beginning of second week of Eureka, after that I took several days break from it.

Now at 7, I joined a PF group saying "level 6+, no mindless train following, we chain monsters & spawn NMs". After porting in and killing about ten level 10 monsters, the level 10 tank says "this is pointless, we should follow the train" and runs for it (train was at White Rider). Most of the low-level party follows, gets killed along the way, tank gets killed at the NM, someone raises him and he uses Aetheryte to port with the rest of the train. Most of the party still tries to follow him (no one is level 9 yet, so they all run), die on the way again, I leave the group and Eureka.

Solo XP is "increased" so I reentered to see if soloing is viable now. Killing on-level monsters (Sea Bishops) I get something over 4k XP in one chain 30, which takes about 22 minutes to complete. 4k+ is about 10% of XP needed for next level. Doing the math (I'd need to kill about 300 Sea Bishops in 220 minutes of almost constant, uninterrupted combat) I abandon the idea of solo leveling.

At last, I entered Eureka and for the first time ever used LFG in shout chat. Got invite almost instantly, I'm by far the lowest level of the group but I switched to WHM beforehand so I hope to be of at least some use. It's a new instance and the train begins with the high-level NM in the northern part of the map. I manage to run there without dying and without pulling a single monster, just in time to "join" the NM fight (it's once again White Rider). I ress a party member, throw a few heals and promptly get one shot by something (no idea what it was as there was no marker on the ground - could be anything from boss untelegraphed AoE to some add to simple lag). The following few moments I spend by being ressed and quickly oneshotted again. Eventually, some new arrival drags in a huge pack of mobs which kills my whole party and a lot bystanders. The boss is killed, I get no contribution reward. We get ressed, new people are coming to the train dragging in new and new monsters so I'm killed 2 more times before the train ports away. Finally I realize the futility of this, thank the group and leave Eureka.

The most interesting thing it has going for it right now is a possible explanation for what happened to the Students of Baldesion in satisfying detail. There's no way to know if it will do that are not at this point though. Plus the fact that it's optional content also guarantees that the revelation won't be relevant to the main plot at all.

I wouldn't say that. They could still have it be relevant to the main plot, just if you did run through it they'll add a sort of "we all know you know, WoL, but let's bring the others up to speed" text bubble which will be missing if you didn't do the content. You might not get 100% of the details which will still leave some meaning to running this yourself (assuming how well they pull it off) but it's not impossible.
