But Merlwyb is regarded as the greatest admiral they've had and Mistbeard, former pirate king, follows her because he knows she's better?
Nanamo's entire story arc is that she's young, naive and inexperienced and literally every other person is trying to take advantage of her because the sultanate for generations has just been a puppet position. Raubahn leaving her is the kick she needed to actually grow up and manage things on her own, and we'll see how that evolves over time, I imagine.
Guild leaders don't really matter much as they're often academies with the occasional official business side. Not every school will be headed by the absolute best in the field. As for the gladiator one, since you specifically called it out, she was chosen because she's more honest and disciplined after the former guild leader was revealed to be a cheater who took bribes and bet on his own matches. Sure he might be a better fighter, but we don't know for sure if he's a better person.

That said, I think this has strayed very far from the point.

Exactly the same as the hammy silver colored vilain with a long weapon that tried to destroy the world by bringing down a meteor, but wasn't called Sephiroth.

It would also have been an opportunity to create a special 24-man that could be based on the Tower Of the Gods where each party would have to kill one member of the Warring Triad, while opening paths to each other, until they reach God Regula.

Don't really want to derail the topic much further but I'll just say that it's a yes and no for me, Regula betraying the emperor was becoming so predictable by many that him getting killed off and perhaps hinting at a possible alliance to garlemand was a nice surprise at least for me. It actually gave the empire some depth, which I hope they won't waste.
In a way you can say that the kefka one is zenos tbh, the premises are there, only a bit more less apparent.

But as said I don't have a problem with ppl wanting more original content, because I agree on that one, I'm criticizing the line of thought of SB beign the start of the fanservice thing while it was always present in the contents and was even advertised as such since the beginning.

I'm willing to admit, at first impression, I hated it. The slow level pacing, the players overreliance (for good reason) on raise capable jobs, melee DPS unfriendly. No level sync, very punishing for low levels when doing NM farms. This pushed me to take some time away from the game after being fed up with raiding and other parts of the game that feel like the same thing every time I log in.

However, after taking a break for a couple weeks, I came back on week 3 in Eureka expecting it to died down like Diadem did. Wanted to give it a good go before confirming if I wanted to continue with this game since I reached a point where I'm done with raiding.

I'm lvl 17, probably have enough for a full set of relic gear and a weapon for one, maybe two classes. Eureka, thankfully is a gorgeous new zone, plenty of space and it does give you a feel of danger and has challenges. The dev team is starting to nail open world content, but it needs more. Hunt spawns are a good start, there needs to be temp items, something to help the lowbies and even the higher level players with temp stat boosts like Abyssea. Atma's in FFXI made it a little broken, but a fun kind of broken. Atma's would range from big stat boosts, exp bonuses, reraise, they could add atma's that grant extra tomes/marks.

Speaking of temp items, please give us a form of re-raise. I recall there was an atma in FFXI that let players reraise themselves repeatedly after being slain. We also had scrolls and items that gave us that. Nothing wrong with SMN and RDM, but near every party it was these jobs that took up slots. The NMs are very melee unfriendly, while ranged DPS have an easier time keeping distance they too are easily fallen by a wayward AOE or adds going crazy.

I'd imagine the next zone will have a different method for relic steps, which concerns me that once the new zone comes out, the old one will gradually diminish population wise. Atma's would make most of the content clearable as parties get smaller and smaller. So people would have to stay on top of content or get left behind if they had to take a few weeks/months off.

It's also a good thing this is tied to relic otherwise this would of been as dead as Diadem by now.

If they want to keep Eureka Anemos relevant, they could make these things buyable with Protean/Anemos crystal. This way, players would still farm them if they want to optimize the next Eureka content.
You should even buy pop items with those, that would help you fight other NMs in smaller groups (with a claim system, like levequest targets), where it would be easier to include more complicated mechanics.

Let me say I'm not criticizing anyone's wiew

Frankly speaking I don't think first impressions are enough in this day and age to declare something dead or not.
They are still very useful in giving feedbacks, but since now most games (and MMOs before others) can be updated and fixed and I'm a firm believer that post-launch support is definitively much more important than release and in fact I think Eureka's success will be determined by that as much as it was for palace of the dead.

In this thread there have been many fair points on what doesn't work in Eureka atm and we can hope SE will react accordingly.
Personally I don't like too mcuh grindy, though I believe some form of long-time goal are badly needed in the game and imho atm Eureka is just a foundation that SE has to buld upon, not like what they did with the 2 diadems since frankly diadem v2.0 was built OVER 1.0 not upon.

So can we talk about how you get warnings if you want to sell furniture that you already have five copies of, but no warning about level loss? I just lost a level because after driving four hours before playing, I was tired and mistook the release button for the take raise button.

Yes I know it's not the same button, but still. They warn you in this game over so many bloody trivial things and they don't even mention it in the dialog at all for that?

(Also, why is level loss a thing in this day and age? It's not 1998 anymore.)

Don't you have to hold the release button now for this very reason?

Its mentioned in the early dialogue, and I'm sure people would complain if it popped up every time they died.

Compared to how many trivial warnings they have ("oh you want to buy healer gear while on a DPS even though you have leveled healers, are you really sure?"), this is probably a case where it's actually warranted. You very rarely want to release past whatever level the penalty kicks in, given the penalty. The dialog box doesn't even mention it, just that text way back at the start.

(And yes it does. Like I said, tired. Was a long day. Wasn't paying close enough attention, just saw a res macro with my name on it and whacked the button. Turned out it was a hardcast and hadn't gone off yet...)

meh beat me to it =/

I agree though, I was always attempted to experiment where it gives you a warning. I find it very odd how there is messages for petty things like you described or the obnoxious "you got your 450 tome weekly; << I DO NOT NEED A MESSAGE FOR THIS, all it is good for is to be annoying, now breaking the 2k cap is a different matter but I do not need to be spammed about not being able get anymore past the 450 weekly.

The only reason I never made a mistake going to 20 is because i kept reminded myself in my mind how I need keep it slow when accepting raises, I do no want to lose 1-2 hours of work (encase something messes up with input lag, my SO made the mistake once) over clicking "too fast" for the game.

    THERE!:
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-reason-for-it.
finally done it, you made me remember how much that message annoys he hell out of me
