The thing is tho, we already established why surnames are NOT useless. So all in all this debate is pointless.
What about my name? State Alchemist isn't the same without State or Alchemist. Even though everyone calls me State anyway...
I dont just sound smart I AM smart.
Hey State how are things going? No your name fits just fine, I mean you do have alchemy lvled dont you? We are on the same server right Palamecia? I have seen you around a couple times and seen your shouts for your crafting ls.

I support the option to have it if you want it. I personally don't want one. I'm just Anathiel, but I added barron to it...didn't seem right to me. Make the first name to be unique for tells and friend adds and yeah, that's my thoughts.
I like it so another vote for no; keep surnames.
I generally try to give my characters a full name anyway, both given and surname. Because I'm a one-character-person only, generally the character is an extension of me. Having a full name lets me connect better with the character.
I vote no, of course. Not that this matter is really even being put to a vote.
Without my sur-name my name would be incomplete! D: please don't remove!

I don't mind having surnames, but I could take it or leave it. It's not a game breaker for me.
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
