Locking lvl 370 items behind savage content IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

Even if this is a very angry post, there is a point to be made.

Look at the reaction when a player finally got to end game, the attitude toward the game took a 180 degree spin. The real problem being that we do not have enough gear options or more specifically the stats we have are so boring they do not offer much to play with for the development team to give us more options.

I mean if you don't enjoy savage then what reason do you have to continue to gear up like that? Getting ilvl370 is mostly for savage content next tier anyway.

Savage (and possibly Ultimate in the future depending on what all they do with it) will always have the best gear in the game locked behind it. Period. Putting gear behind this sort of content is nothing new to the MMO genre.

That said, the current Mendacity tome gear will be upgradeable in the future outside of Savage. Most likely it will be locked behind the next 24 man raid, but easily obtainable on a weekly basis. Adding the upgrade items as hunting log rewards is also likely.

As someone who doesn't do Savage (while it's current content at least), I don't see the issue here. Don't like doing Savage? Then don't do it. Wait for the upgrade items for our current tome gear.

As someone who can't do savage because chronic pain issues make me too unreliable to be at the top of my game predictably, I don't mind the gate in the slightest and I'm perfectly equipped to do the content I enjoy with the tomes/crafted gear. I like that the gear goes to the people who put the most work into playing well. The content itself will always be there for me later. I just recently cleared A12s after going in blind and it was a lot of fun.

I said the same thing on a prior thread much like this and got told "you're not allowed to tell [me/us] what we do and don't need, if I want a better weapon to make content go more quickly, I deserve it." So really, there isn't anything you can say to convince people, no matter how much sense it does/doesn't make.

They'd still be angry because the best gear is locked behind savage; you'd just make this game more like wow where if you don't have the right legos you can't play your job the way you want.

I don't really have many jobs leveled up to max, mostly because I'm not that crazy about most of the jobs, but, I sure am glad Eureka gave me an option to equip those few jobs I have with recent gear. And not, equipping them in months instead of a week or two at max. It would be nice to have other options outside of tome grinding, which grew old to me back in 3.0. There is only so many hallway simulators I care to visit dozens of times, if not hundreds..
