They are Relics though, think of them as a base Relic
As far as I can tell SE might be planning something in terms of the weapons and anima. Perhaps it will be one of those anima weapon transfers and certain requirements might be needed being that it's not hard to get them Anima might be skipping some numb grinding aspect later on. I really hope so ; ;. I would rather collect items than grind lights again.

So far: they have the "dog and pony show" gimmick, a unique title/category for themselves as "Eureka Weapons" (Prev. were Relic, Zodiac and Anima) and the NPC who's been at the center of the aforementioned "Relic Weapons". It falls into an easy assumption that these are indeed "the relics".
I'm more inclined to wonder, since the relic weapons have ended up looking different by the end of the expansion. Will the relic armor follow the same route? Will the AF3 gear get added stuff besides being dye-able? Alternate dye patterns? New "evolved" designs? Added details to current armor sets?
If you say so.

Honestly this is what I'm most interested in. I want the ilvl eventually, but I'm midcore, so I'm mostly in this for the looks. And with it being gear as well as a weapon, I'm both excited and... well, I remember XIV's track record with a lot of their outfit sets, esp. as none of the SB tome/raid sets have really thrilled me. They all feel too same-y. I enjoy the AF3 looks, so I hope the upgrades stay as unique.So far: they have the "dog and pony show" gimmick, a unique title/category for themselves as "Eureka Weapons" (Prev. were Relic, Zodiac and Anima) and the NPC who's been at the center of the aforementioned "Relic Weapons". Well, I am going to assume they'll be showcasing them in the next live letters. since 4.3 is really around the corner (end of April to mid May?) but I agree that they don't have the best track record.Honestly this is what I'm most interested in. i'm sure that if people kick and scream enough as they are prone to do SE may give in and do a different relic either that or hit people with a big sign that's says no and make eureka the relic grind but who knows its still early i guess they may add more steps to anemos that makes them purple.

Anemos weapons are the same as the Esoteric (Animated/Awoken) weapons from Heavensward. Basically, the 210 weapons you buy with Esoterics that you enhanced with the crystals that you either obtained from spamming FATEs for days, or traded your Zodiac Weapon for. As I recall, the Awoken weapons are still Blue and were really just the first step of the Anima weapon quest with the luminous crystals that 90% of players were able to do. It wasn't until the Unidentified Items step that came next that locked a lot of people out, given that the method to get them was gated behind a CRAPLOAD of Tomes, Beast Tribes, Maps, etc

By the way, I suspect the ilvl for relic armor from Eureka will always be below the ilvl for unaugmented tome gear as currently.
Right now Anemos Armor is 350, which is weaker than unaugmented Mendacity gear. Since tome gear is always capped at 450/week, you are limited to how many pieces you can get at any given time. With Eureka, so far you are not limited at all, you could fully upgrade all jobs' armor to Anemos level without regards to any caps. That said, if Eureka armor is ever made higher ilvl than unaugmented tome gear, there would be little point in doing roulettes or whatever for weekly 450 tomes, since you could just pour your time into Eureka and get entire sets of Eureka armor for all your jobs, thus making tomes pointless. So that said, full upgraded Eureka armor will probably be weaker than tome gear, but will have customized stats and may be situationally better...perhaps they'll let us meld STR/DEX/INT/VIT/MND though on them for first slot or something?
So I think the ilvl hierarchy for leftside gear will be:
Raid=Augmented Tome>Unaugmented Tome>Eureka>Crafted>Dungeon

I understand the mentality, but belts and accessories are a thing. Not everyone can craft those, so people still need to get them. Eureka will, by the end of the expansion, contend for top spot. Right now much of the 360 gear falls short of the Eureka gear, depending on secondary stats.
