

What exactly is the purpose of "Optimal" rank equip in dev's mind? or are you trying to make it seems like your idea of "Optimal" rank equip is what was intended by the dev's?
I see optimal ranking equip as a tool to satisfy roleplayer and only there as cosmetic purpose.

I know that equipping armor optimally 1 rank above me will give me far lower stats than equipping armor 8 levels optimally below me. This just isn't the way to go.



I just wish we weren't so limited to what we can wear. I'd rather they fix THAT than fix some level minimum for extra skills


From what I have seen this is no longer the case, check the gear, it will show gear 1 lvl below you, the secondary stats are grayed out, but 1 level above it is not the case.

I checked it last night and it was the case. Checked it with my 47 MRD who still has 39 gear on because of it.


It's true and it's slightly annoying that Optimum rank is really just Required Rank that you can wear before then but don't get /anything/ beneficial from. Working on my ARM lately I've been trying to find decent crafting gear so I won't break as much. There is some a couple levels away but all they give me for now is DEF and reduced at that which doesn't matter for a crafter. It's the extra stats that matter. So until I hit the gear level (20) I have to use Rank 10~12 gear just to get ANY benefits towards not breaking my supplies.



Nel, I wouldn't worry too much longer about that. They are adding new recipes next patch from what I believe, so hopefully it fills the gaps for crafting classes. I know how you feel >.>


Where did this 5 levels optimal come from, right now if I equip a piece two levels lower than me the stats are still grey and not yellow. That to me is ridiculous, 5 levels lower should be 50% reduction in stats at least or maybe 75%, but 2 levels lower I can only justify a 10-25% reduction in stats, grey means you get basically nothing from the gear, if at two levels lower than optimal its still grey.........sorry that just doesn't make any sense at all to me.
On crafting you do feel it the most, I mean when I made my linen coatee set I was 36, and its optimal 37 or 38 I believe, you get none of the extra stats for the linen coatee set at 36, you only get def, and on top of that if you do want gear that makes any difference you have to wear your old set till you get to 38, which by then you dye the gear(the coatee set) and it becomes required and more potent for your class. Thus making optimal again useless.
Also why stack mag craftmanship so much on gear pieces SE, almost as equally as craftmanship, when almost every crafting class uses craftmanship more than mag craft.

OMG time to get over this guys, almost every MMO and offline RPG has level restricted armour/weapons and whatnot, deal with it !
IMO they should remove this optimal rank gear from the game completely and with any luck this is what Yoshi is planning to do when they add more armour to the game.

Uh. . . if you don't want or care about immersion then why make a game that looks incredibly realistic and follows basic realistic laws?
Any player should be allowed to equip any piece of armor. It should be that way. Period.
