Repairs prevent me from enjoying the game like i should, and im not the only one. You devs need to think up different gil sinks.

Every game i have played that has had a repair system ended up getting rid of it because its un-popular. Give us something we want to spend gil on, not spending money on something we already got.

IMO the only reason repairs are in game is cause they do not have anything to replace it with yet. You can see that every time they tweak repairs it gets easier and less bothersome... because it sucks.

With the materia system crafters are taken care of because gear is always being destroyed.

Its gonna happen eventually anyway, just do it.

No. also stop lying, games rarely to never remove repair systems, unless you've only played one MMO you're overly exaggerating, people repair crap for free all the time, gear takes couple k to repair, people who don't bazaar walk around with millions of gill, why does it never come to your mind that maybe you just suck?

Maybe keep it as a death penalty but not a EVERYTHING else penalty. I believe they could have saved a good amount of players if they didn't have the repair system in the first place. This topic has been revived on and on since the game started. Past polls from zam or ffxivcore lean more towards scrapping the repair system. I know the repair system is a lot better now then before but I still see it as an annoyance having to repair all my gear. Didn't mind loosing exp in XI with a raise III it wasn't much. I'm with the op on this argument. My opinion repairing gear just isn't fun.

The repair system in the early days of the game was horrendous. Everybody crafted naked because you couldn't sneeze without incurring a major durability hit. Undergarments took damage and couldn't be repaired. Before setting out, you looked through each piece of gear (individually) to see how damaged it was. You had to take breaks from partying to go back to town to repair. You were really a slave to the system.

Even so, I really doubt this was a major factor in the game's mass exodus. It's a system that could be easily adjusted, unlike the core problems that still plague this game to this day.

Anyway, the system is now nearly on par with WoW's repair system. A few more tweaks, and it'll be simple and routine.

(I really don't want to see repair gone to be replaced by an exp death penalty)
He only said "get rid of repair system", not the gear dmg.
If you died too much, your gear is broken, without a repair system not repairable = buy new gear as death penalty

I don't care for it, but it's pretty painless TBH. (I actually liked the integration the old system had, though low population numbers turned it into a mess on some servers)

It's a really bad death penalty compared to XI. First of all it's way too abstract to make me care and secondly repairing your gear puts everyone on non even field because some people cook or fish for their crafting needs. I still have not found one argument in this thread why the repairing itself is good gameplay or gamedesign in any shape or for. The most avid defenders are the ones that are "Not that annoyed" by it.

i eventually gave up on repairs when i found out that it really didnt make a difference back then. i could still easily kill and stay alive in battle with broken gear. with the stat reforms that has changed.
