


Does not excuse them to keep ignoring glaring problems of this game and not speaking to us. SE makes tons of money, they can easily hire a hand or 2 to communicate with us.They do speak to community, just not this community because of the language.
FF14 is counterpart of WoW.
WoW devs like ghostcrawler used to only communicate with English community because he speaks English only.
All other WoW community likes China, Korean, and Taiwan don't even get a chance.
Fair point. However... there's no reason why SE can't provide feedback to the rest of their player base via text. I can understand where video and live events are hosted in Japanese and translated after the fact. I don't need a video of Yoshi-P speaking English, or a live Reddit thread of him responding to US players. But is a simple forum post acknowledging the problems too much to ask? Or a survey asking for our feedback? Based on server counts, the US and EU markets make up roughly half of FFXIV's subscribers. They need to figure out how to talk to us.Just to inform you that Yoship's Walk and FF14 Adrenaline TV are both JP official shows that exist for a while.
If you are playing on JP client you often will see the announcement of date and server and encourage people to participate.
Yoship's Walk is dealing with PvE and Adrenaline TV is dealing with PvP.
Both shows are usually involving devs show up in a designated server to get close with the community.
We never got it because.... they dont speak English.


As a note I actually wonder how much we lose in the translations, fan transaltions are a thing, but since that live translations were they translated wrongly the name of a spell I'm a bit more cautious on that.
Not going to say that the woman doing it is a bad translator, but I think that since translators not necessarely play the game, they should at least provide infos on what they are actually talking about
Edit: And imho having ENG client having a different nomenclature than the rest of the clients is stupid if you ask me
The fact that they need two separate hotfixes to address lockbox junk and anemos carpal tunnel syndrome is really annoying considering they should have seen this in any testing they did. The f act they need to spend time fixing basic mistakes draws them away from other fixes they could make, too.
The level sync is needed, yes, but it sounds like it will be in 3.3x when they release the next eureka zone, and i'd like some clarification if it would be global to all instances or just to let people who didn't do the first zone to catch up.

The sad thing is, some of the team are actually decent at English. I knew someone who met Yoshi and said they spoke about 20 minutes in only English and my friend said he was very understandable with his attempt at spoken English. Foxclon as another example, is pretty fluent in English and has had interviews where he shows this.Fair point. This is a good thing, camping timed spawn NMs while competing against the entire server for a slim chance at a loot drop was by far the most horrible part of XI, and I don't care how much people try and retroactively justify it, that element of game design should stay in the past where it belongs. Good riddance.



The thing that stands out most to me in that Reddit thread is the comment that the devs love it and can't wait to go home and play it.
1. The devs made the instance they wanted to play (and that explains a whole heck of a lot honestly)
OR
2. YoshiP is taking liberties to make it sound like it's more popular/well-constructed than many players seem to believe (he has done this before)

I was kind of hoping that the promotion meant YoshiP was moving on and we would get some new blood with new ideas.



The part about not wanting to make it too convenient is his way of saying some hardship should be preserved I think. Can't be as casual and convenient as doing fates in a standard field zone like The Fringes. Enemies of a higher elemental level than the player cap and penalty of exp loss on release are part of this design principle.
