I unfortunately agree with every single one of your points and have too unsubscribed. I really think the dev team doesn't quite understand their customers in the modern age of MMOs. There just isn't enough fun content in this game to warrant the time and money spent. Especially when you consider other modern F2P mmo content coming out for games like Warframe and Tera.

I hope the dev team takes this constructive criticism to heart and begins to turn this around quickly. If so, I may consider renewing. But for now, they've lost me as a paying customer.

Telling OP he's in the wrong for posting is victim blaming. This is a forum for discussion about the game, he posted a neutral farewell post about why he was leaving. Even if he went after the people calling him stupid and telling him to quit in the way they deem proper, he has every right to express why he wants to leave. It's not really for us to judge his unknowable circumstances beyond what he's posted, nor attempt to shame him for somehow doing it wrong. And as others have said companies LIKE knowing why customers leave. Especially when they can point to specific examples. Even if YoshiP himself does not grace this thread with his presence to personally thank the OP there are people who collect player feedback and pass it on.

Is everyone missing the point that goodbye threads are mostly sen as attention seeking? That was my only point. People are acting like we LIKE goodbye threads. Every thread like this has ben met with " Why? Just leave noone cares" On just about every single forum ever on the net. Why is it now all of sudden ok?

Then simply quit reading the thread. I don't recall you being nominated the moral authority of appropriate posting on these forums.

I wonder, are you confused? since you said " most forums have goodbye threads being against the rules"
this is not a free form like reddit or gamefaqs or what have you.
On wow they tell you to make a post on the OF when you hit the unsub button, different cultures have different customs. This is not the first time I tried to explain a point to you 3 or 4 times. I understand your point, you are not understanding why we disagree and why people should not be witch hunting.

keep in mind people that post are all paying customers, not comparable "quitting" some subredit or 4chan.

I dunno .. just feels like people are only defending him cause he agrees with the content opinion. I feel like if he didn't the reponse here would be completely different. Maybe I'm wrong but that's just the opinion I'm getting from how hostle everyone seems.

Well thank goodness we have the forum police here to tell us all how to behave. Who needs mods when we have amazing people like you to foist their creamy morality all over our petulant faces.

Not all games are for all people, only advice i have is if you are not enjoying the time you spend with a game (or any other activity) might be time to stop. I have had that happen to me with WoW and WoD xpac, it started to feel nauseating to log to do the garrison stuff, so i let my sub run out and played things I actually enjoyed playing. Personally i am enjoying Eureka, but would be silly of me everyone would have similar tastes in enjoyment.

And yet threads like that are not closed or moved by the GMs. Still even if its often for attention (and what if its the 1% that is genuie, they will still be attacked the same way) people still can ignore it or be decent. I could understand a bad reaction if he called the forum and its poster bad names, if he behaved like a child or things like that. He simply posted the amount of hours, that he loved the game and what he would see changed. The only a bit strange sentence was the one where he kinda talked like he was speaking for others too but that is honestly not that bad. Again: There is simply no way to tell SE why you go, Yoshida himself stated that critisism is worth way more than a compliment and a silent lost customer is way worse than someone that write the reason. Its fine if people are annoyed but they could have simply ignored the thread. In this case imo only the other side is wrong because he simply did not attack anyone. He posted one thread..not a couple, or anything. One. At the same time we have enough of threads that are nothing put pure trolling and things like that.

But as soon as the rare thread pops up where someone says that they are unsubbing some people feel the need to insult.

I cant speek for everyone else but I would still feel bad even if I disagree with the person . I read through the OP and if its interesting I will either post my opinion on it and/or leave a like. If I find it strange or not worth the time I just close the thread and be done with it.

Please dont post this as if its a fact. I dont see such threads as attention seeking because I can understand the mindset behind that. Not everyone in this forum needs attention. Some just simply want to post their opinion. The only ones that I truly see as attention seeking are those that create pure troll threads that are answers for other controversial threads or topics. Those have imo no place in this forum because they just exist to greate havoc between the player base. You dont have to like every single thread that is posted in the general forum. If people are interested in it they will answer and if not they will just ignore it and thus it will fall off.

Also just because this kind of answer were part of a lot of forum does not suddenly make it right. Maybe its a common problem in game forums that some (not all!) people simply cant take critisism of their game and someone leaving it because they take it personal? (Just an way for me to explain such behavior) I know myself how defensive I can become if I like something very much and someone dares to have negative opinions of this. That does not make my act right. (Especially if its constructive critisism.)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Just FYI, I’m unsubbing. I hope people who don’t know me will miss me. And I think SB sucks . Why didn’t the developer ask me what I wanted and called me everyday for input? I’m SUBUNNING
