As far as I know the axe is the only worthwhile weapon, of course I am probably wrong.
Though all I ever see people use is the axe.

Well let me say what I really hope will happen
we know there is going to be a "token" syste, being added for bosses
what i hope to happen is that we get 1 per boss kill, and a "chance" at more from the chest he drops(or maybe 1 from chest with a chance of a bonus drop from chest of more)
make every dungeon set being added have 1 full set of gear
by that, 1 set of weapons, 1 set of leather, cloth, and mail gear
from there, make each cost 20 tokens at the least....
people think the drop rate is bad now, well at least this way after 20 runs(less if you got tokens from the chest) youd now have a guarenteed drop of your choice!
want a full set(for 1 job) then all you need to do is collect 140 tokens!(160 if you use shield perhaps)
with how hardcore some people do these fights that should be no problem

Said it before in a similar thread, but here's how i'd like to see it happen.
Make U/U on-par with 2 & 3 slotted materia.
Make 4-5 slotted materia absolutely superior (other than Ultimate Weapons).
U/U uses a color scheme for rarity and they said there will likely be colors beyond blue (purple/orange). If they still have any hope of using this system they have to make accommodations.
Only the the rarest of the rare U/U should be on-par with 3 (in some cases 4) slotted though.
Currently a 2 meld is around 20 - 30% chance (or less in some cases depending on tier III or tier IV & the stat values).
I would like to see a revision on a 2 meld to be closer to 40-50% & 3 meld 15-30%.
Finally 4-5 melds would be 5-15%.
Further, if you are going to put multiple Materia on HQ, it should raise your chances of success.
A few other things i think should be in the game:
1. Bosses/chests that drop Materia
2. Bosses that drop U/U special/powerful materia & catalysts that will turn an item U/U (limited to 1 meld only though)(would need to find a way for crafters to meld without trading or have it temporarily go into the pool to obtain the U/U).
We need more incentives to do content regardless of what they end up implementing.

This would be a great way to ruin this game some more ff11 for years did a great job of balancing crafted and NM/HNM gear this game has done the complete opposite and made NM gear shit besides the Ifrit weapons. A majority of people will never play this game if all the good gear only comes from crafting. Why? wheres the content w/ crafted gear? where do new people come up w/ the gil to buy the overpriced inflated gear? They should never added the materia system to the extent they did so early in this game its not good for the game period and its a rather shotty system as it is now . Why? Because all u need to have to have great materiaed gear is more gil than the next person its all $$$ and luck and the person w/ the most $$$ will always benefits; its a completely skill-less system. They could have at least added a magian type system instead where u worked towards goals to powerup your crafted gear. The Materia system has wiped out pretty much everything content. Darkhold, most of the Ifrit Weapons, and most of the Stronghold rewards are useless comapred to it.
The only way to make it all balanced and even out is quite obvious.
Make ALL bosses drop materials, absolutely no dropped U/U gear. Give the material to a crafter, and have them make the gear. When made the gear is still not U/U. They can then put materia into the gear making it even better.
The crafter can then trade it back to the user. When they equip the gear it then becomes bound to them and becomes U/U.
This way, there is a reason to repeat dungeons and primal fights more than once, crafters are still getting work, and content gear isn't rendered completely useless.
My two Red Wizard gil's is less than 2 gils of Gath.

The mage weapons are trash :/ You only ever see the axes because outside Ifrit MRD is an easy, powerful class to play. No one does ARC anymore and LNC is really good but doesn't have an AoE as powerful as Storm's Path

You give the crafter the item, the make the gear piece you desire and put in materia you want. They trade it to you after, the gear is still regular. The second you equip it, the gear will become U/U.

What if U/U items could be materia'd one time only (system would not allow more), and let the crafted items be materia'd up to four times max?
(Okay those were just numbers thrown out of my head; but you get the point, since U/U are already supposed to be powerful, but the crafted materia'd gear is over powering it still just allow us to materia'd that gear until it even outs in terms of strength)
