Yes, a few more open world NMs would be cool.

No :I Making it bigger and stronger and giving it HP does not make a fun, challenging NM. I would rather wait a few months and do instanced content only if it meant getting a well-designed open-world NM later on.
Well this depends on if you want your NM just a stronger normal mob (like most generic MMOs) or if you want the NM to be a challenge over just having higher HP and a different moveset, for example in FFXI there's a cryptonberry NM that will teleport and basically use sneak attack on the players with highest enmity which will drop them to 1 HP which he can easily follow up with a basic attack that will kill said person easily, so your strategy will have to account in that he can teleport around to where the person is located, and just 'gather together' won't really cut it since all it does is causes you to take unnecessary ~aga damage to everyone.
'Tank n Spank' is fine in general, since people also said making gimmicky fights are a bad thing as well, so it basically has to meet inbetween the two, which I felt was what they were doing with a lot of resistances/auras in later XI NMs.
Hahaha, okay well how about you go do that and let us have content now because not all of us are out to be masochists in the name of elitism. I for one would take anything at this point.
Making a pudding or some other mob high enough level could still make for an enjoyable fight to break up the monotony. It doesn't need thirty unique triggers to overcome to be more enjoyable than repeating a single instanced encounter until February.
You are ridiculous.
Needs moar wyrms..
i think your missing the point. what is being suggested with using an existing mob template, but making bigger, stronger with more HP. this is not a replacement for instance raid, no1 is saying get lazy do this instead of making new dungeons. what they are asking for is something quick and easy that can be added to 1.20. because writing code for a new NM or 2 could be alot easier and quicker than a new dungeon. and could theoretically be done over night
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
Not here to shoot anyone down :/ If you guys are content with that then fine, but I'd rather wait for something more challenging and fun than settling for a trash NM right now.
/inb42.0
in the letter from the producer it said there will be no new dungeon in 1.20, this is nothing that can be done for that right now. we can ask "we want a new dungeon" but to write the code for a new dungeon, can't written over night, i guessing OP understands this. in a perfect world i bet OP as well as most ppl would love a new dungeon, sometimes things just arn't possible. so as an open world NM would be very easy to program. it is not a big ask, to ask for something to tide ppl over. nobody is saying take ppl off the dungeon team and delay it, or that an NM is their dream content what there saying is. its something
i'm getting the idea with you, "its all or nothing"

Explain to me the point of that please. You don't want new NM's unless they can design a complex encounter using a new mob, new abilities, and new mechanics that are not currently in the game.
We have literally nothing to do at endgame other than a single encounter, and you don't want them to add anything unless it conforms to your ridiculously out of place expectations for content at this point in the game.
Take Deepvoid Slave, that mini-boss was just a renamed ogre who if you take away the ghosts (which most people pretty much ignored in their strats until 1.19) did nothing special. Well at that level he still had a powerful frontal, aoe, and rage ability. He may not be an experience defining encounter, but consider for a second that the sheer accomplishment of killing Ifrit may have retained a bit of its relevance if by necessity we hadn't exclusively farmed his ass for 2 months.
90% of my Experience points since October have come from "Ifrit Bleeds, We can kill it!". So yeah... I miss "trash NM's" like Dodore/Great Buffalo/Aldgoat/Bloatbelly. Several of which honestly are more difficult mechanically than Ifrit despite the fact they are just bigger/more powerful versions of normal mobs.
Other mobs currently in the game (like all the ones named on this thread) have abilities already which would pose at least an obstacle when raised high enough.
These abilities could be tweaked in minor ways, that would not extend the development time prohibitively and still allow them to give them to us before 1.21. This thread is simply asking for them to give us something more at endgame... if you are fine with nothing for 3 months then keep it to yourself.
I fully understand what's being said; and you're right, it would be nice to have something fun to do for the time being, even if it wasn't amazing and extremely challenging. But if they did put in something like a Pudding NM, it would only last maybe a week at most before it got monotonous, since it probably wouldn't take long to defeat :Iin the letter from the producer it said there will be no new dungeon in 1.20, this is nothing that can be done for that right now. we can ask "we want a new dungeon" but to write the code for a new dungeon, can't written over night, i guessing OP understands this. in a perfect world i bet OP as well as most ppl would love a new dungeon, sometimes things just arn't possible. so as an open world NM would be very easy to program. it is not a big ask, to ask for something to tide ppl over. nobody is saying take ppl off the dungeon team and delay it, or that an NM is their dream content what there saying is. its something

Something like Ifrit, while hard, isn't extremely challenging, and it's gotten monotonous after the 3rd week of farming. At this point I'm sure most people are only killing it because some players are getting boned by the ridiculous loot system.
Either way, it seems like I'm the minority in this anyways, which is fine. But I just don't want to see time (however short) put into something that won't really see much attention in the end.
