I'll take WoW as an exemple. We don't need mythic gear but we want more than crappy green-bleues.
I mean, if we're gonna copy WoW, you don't get max ilevel gear just for facerolling your daily heroic and doing LFR weekly for an arbitrary upgrade item. You'll get DECENT gear, but you won't get max ilevel gear like you get in FFXIV (barring Titanforging which is awful and is being de facto removed in BfA).

At any rate, I did this Eureka thing today and it was...basically what everyone described it as. Some friends and I grouped up as wee level 1s, found some crabs and started grinding our nuts off. When a NM spawned, we risked life and limb and the chance of being one-shot to get there and get the only meaningful exp rewards we saw all evening (which was actually exciting IMO, I liked that part somewhat). When we got to NMs, everyone lagged like crazy because LOL SE SERVER CAPABILITY and about half of us got one-shot from people mob-training into the NM. Fortunately we grouped with some higher level friends for the NMs (who were grinding mobs as a group in a higher level area of the map) so we got full credit and some handy raises.

Basically, the danger element was fun, but the NMs had no discernable mechanics I could see because it was a clown fiesta of sparkles and lighting effects and they were mostly zerged down hunt-style without much ado. The interim between NM spawns was absurdly tedious and frankly, not worth mine or anyone's time, even with the toned-down version of an elemental wheel.

Just to point out also. If you die at 20, and are not raised, you will delevel. They put NO exp buffer in place once you hit max. It probably wouldn't be an issue if not for the monsters you needing to grind at that point always being 5 levels over you and in incredibly large numbers. I seriously doubt wipes aren't going to be uncommon.

Pretty much. Gear choices should be closer than what they are basically. The game needs more alternative approaches to gearing up closer to BiS. Raids shouldn't be the end game. They should be an optional end game.

You only de level if you release, like anything just get raised and you're fine. When a lot more people hit 20 it won't be such an issue, people will faceroll the mobs and whatnot easy, on the other hand getting Pazuzu? to spawn for the feathers is probably going to be a nightmare.

A casual player can get better gear on a shorter timeline by capping tomestones every week. Eureka's gear caps at 350 - gues what, tomestone is 360.
    We're 6 weeks into 4.2 ... collecting a 350 set from sigmascape takes 5 weeks!
Thats the problem I have with it. I am one week away from my getting my 360 weapon, which makes Euraka outdated before it even really had a time to start. If they want to make it more appealing. Make the top upgrade 365 .... then the carrot will be be hunted.

Yeah, that really is the kicker. How is it casual when pretty much ANYONE can do expert and Kefka Normal, and you get gear that's already better than this by doing so for a few hours a week. That seems a lot more casual to me than grinding out trash to spawn NMs that you have to do for hours A DAY to see any tangible progress.

I'm still standing by my original statement though, it doesn't look "fun" enough to warrant being the only reason to keep my sub going.
Well to each their own so long as you at least have seen what Eureka can be like and not gone completely off hearsay, the latter of which is not recommended as your opinion on something can differ once you've witnessed it firsthand as opposed to the testimony of others. Also I had the notion you were implying Eureka played a role in your unsubbing so my apologies for jumping to conclusions there.

When it came out and I saw the first reaction on the forum and reddit, as expected it was something super grindy. With my FC, we decided that we might do it once or twice per week. In the end we've been there everyday and don't notice the time pass. Grinding for a full lockout on the first day (saw 2 NM spawn yeah), and then fooling around on the other days, following the fate train or spliting up from it to get lower NM when they go to area that are too high level for us. That place is great for us because we are 6 and we can all go together. Before that, for dungeons we have to either split or leave someone behind and do it again with them later, for raids we have to take the PF gamble. So it's actually an interesting change for us.

The fate train is a bit boring, but once we figured out they didn't bother with spawning the lower level one (we are lower level than the average in the train) we decide to spawn them ourself. It feels nice to get them to pop before the train pops the one the are trying to and it can be an adventure to reach the higher level fates by ourselves sometimes

Forgot World First Bahamut Ultimate statics, PotD Solo 200 and TOP 10 Feast players... grinding Eureka for a full gearset is hardcore! Not casual.

Its game design is awful and boring. Yes, even for casuals. When it comes to "better gear", I highly suggest to ANY player to buy the tome gear instead. Its much better and took alot less effort than Eureka.
As someone who has tried for POTD 200 solo (and gotten very close), I'm still waiting for them to realize that just because someone CAN do it doesn't mean they shouldn't nerf it and make it possible with ALL classes.

Same thing with Eureka. Just because you 'can' do it doesn't mean it's fun. Well at least you don't lose all your progress JUST FOR DCING.

Also I hate Eureka and I usually do like hardcore stuff. It's just for the people who like mindless grind.

I Despise Eureka I much preferred the old way of getting relics so much more enjoyable.
