Oh right, you are very right about this. I often switch around, because people tend to say casuals = non skilled player, while casual can also mean the way you said it, how much they play. The grind might take a while but it's supposed to take a while and that's another way to keep people subbed too. This is a common problem I see with the two frequently-attributed definitions to the word "casual": in one sense, it means lower-skill or less effort; in another, it means "less time commitment". Caitlyn is saying it's not casual by virtue of the time commitment, you're saying it is casual by virtue of the lack of skill requirement.

So I went to look up the word casual, since I am in disagreement with this content being causal.
Nope, just board, high end has to worry about unnecessary exp losses, so this can turn into stressful esp when a wondering monster just oneshots you fighting a NM.relaxed and unconcerned.
I guess it can fit this, but then again I guess development in Eureka was causal. Is this what people really mean by Eureka being causal? The programing into it was casual?made or done without much thought or premeditation.
It is pretty desultory there so id give it that.done or acting in a desultory way.
HERE!!! I FOUND IT ! diadem and Eureka are made to die within a week.not regular or permanent, in particular.
then I looked up casual gamer.
This is NOT Eureka, it takes too much time to get anything done.Casual gamer: The term "casual gamer" is often used for gamers who primarily play casual games, but can also refer to gamers who play less frequently than other gamers.[16] Casual gamers may play games designed for ease of gameplay, or play more involved games in short sessions, or at a slower pace than hardcore gamers.[4] The types of game that casual gamers play vary, and they are less likely to own a dedicated video game console.[17][18] Notable examples of casual games include The Sims and Nintendogs.[19] Casual gamer demographics vary greatly from those of other video gamers, as the typical casual gamer is older and more predominantly female.[20] "Fitness gamer"s, who play motion-based exercise games, are also seen as casual gamers.[2
is it really tho? this is at least a step above general casual content. I don't really see this kind of grind as something that appeals to casual players. I mean if someone is gonna try to get all the weapons&armor, that's flipping hardcore. Also I don't think I've ever even seen as many dead people at once, till I did eureka lol. But yea its also not savage of course, or even ex. its just a different kind of "hard" I would say
"A heartbeat without harmony
Is moonlight without dark"
For research purposes, my last instance killed sabotender with about 16 people (no new people were being added to the instance for some reason, so literally everybody in the zone was at the fate), so the fates do scale down like regular fates do, and earlier I was able to get solo gold from the bear on bard, and everything I wasn't as quick to get to (around the halfway mark, on average) I was getting solo silver, so one person can get something useful done, at least. The trick is following the zerg and not dying at the back of the pack. People are usually really good about spotting/raising stragglers, though.

How is it designed for casuals? You have to play it like its a drug to be able to get anywhere or to get anything accomplished. It is most certainly not for casuals. The old relic? That was for casuals.
Eureka is not something that someone with a playtime of <2 h a day or a few days a week can truly enjoy (IMO). First you need to be there for a time to level up enough to be part of the Fate Train and even helping with spawning the NM will take time and if you are bellow a certain level the fate might not even give you something (other than exp). How bad will this be if the hardcore grinders have their relic or are 20?
This is content for some players and I am not saying that you cant have fun with it. But the majority of the playerbase are still casuals and I am not really sure if this is content for them..and yet its all of us that lost dungeons for this.
Yeah because Diadem 1+2 are totaly still alive and fine and the forum exploded for nothing over it too. Or the housing situation with exploded so much that SE finally did something that they had not even planned. You mean how this forum explodes with the same old it sucks threads and comments and it's not worth it. There is nothing new here. The fact of the matter is the instances are full and people are running the content. I would love to see if they actually just rehashed the process of the last two relics and see how happy people would be.
i already have enough for two weapons and sorry but I'm actually having fun. I'm glad they changed it up.
This is like the third day of the content. Even Diadem 2.0 was alive much longer..also it does have untradeable mounts and things like that. Lets talk about instances when we are like 1-2 months later. And not in the release week.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Well, what is a casual's goal in this game? Slow progress or fast? You can't achive things fast if you play only 2-3 hours a day and honestly the gear? It should been ilvl360 not 350/355. But here it goes, why does a casual player need good gear in this game, when their objective is to play at a steady phase? Having the best gear or not doesn't matter that much to a casual tbh.

Never said they did. Was just responding to the thought that it ( Eureka ) is for casuals. I really don't think it is.
