Arguing for other methods to get top 100 PvP rewards is, to be blunt, just being lazy or adverse to PvP. Anyone can say all day "we should be able to get X reward by doing Y instead" and that's their opinion and it's not necessarily wrong, but it doesn't invalidate the current method of getting the mount from top 100. If there's no legitimate reason why top 100 is a bad way to reward players, then really there is no excuse to just using the current system to get the reward you want other than "I want to do something else instead".

And so far the arguments against the legitimacy of top 100 have been a joke. Cheaters don't affect top 100; there's a reason the hacker who rhymes with Bount Crusef had to resort to win trading when hacking movement speed and cast times couldn't even get him diamond. Win traders do get top 100, but their effect has been vastly overblown. There have only been 2 successful win traders that high on the Aether ladder because it takes so much effort to win trade several throwing characters up the ladder to even get into matches with the main, and they have to go through several precautions to not get caught. But their existence doesn't invalidate the achievement because their effect is the same as if the reward was top 98 instead, which is pretty much the same system unless you're the two people shut out. If you're one of those two then come back and I'll concede that you got screwed.

The time needed to get top 100 is reasonable, and it's not a ridiculous grind like spending a year of Rival Wings to get a title. As others have said, people have full time jobs and still get it; I have a full time job and a relationship and I got 2 characters to top 100 and a 3rd to diamond. At worst, adjust your life priorities to commit the time needed, and if you aren't willing to do that then why do you deserve the reward? And arguing whether top 100 is a skill achievement or a time committed achievement doesn't invalidate as a means of rewarding effort.

Queue popping is at worst an issue you have to work around and not something stopping someone from getting top 100. Queue at prime time or follow streams to see when players are playing. Yes queues slow down, but with initial activity lasting at least a month you have plenty of time to try. And it's still active enough after that to climb your way out. I climbed on my alts 1 and 2 months after the season started; I had to wait longer for matches, but they were there. I know someone who transferred servers 2 months after the start and climbed to where they could get matches consistently.

Now to those who argue against the time limitation of the rewards, I can understand that frustration. I mean plenty of games have stuff released early that you can never get, but that doesn't mean it's a good system. But for this argument, the most true system would just be top 100 can get any past top 100 reward. That should be fine, and arguing for anything less is against the merit of the top 100 system and not the time exclusivity, where you can refer to above.

Arguing that the chair mount reward doesn't match thematically is true. But arguing that because of that you should be able to get it from other methods is just an opinion; just because the theme doesn't match doesn't mean the reward is bad or invalid.
