Raiding isn't the be all, end all. If you don't want it, don't do it. Relic/Eureka may be a big grind but it's far less frustrating than having people scream at you because you're a few points lower than they expect on their BS parser.Relics were never made to be for Savage. It's casual content, not raid content, and they don't want it to be used as an excuse to keep people from raiding hence the low levels to begin with. All relics are is over glorified glamours. From ARR to HW. SB will be no different. Relics are never even BiS until the final patch before the next expac. This is nothing new and will never change. Relics are for gearing alt jobs and glamour. If they made relic gear any better than it already is, then nobody would raid as raid gear would be obsolete.

I played XI, and despite the many fond memories I have of it...it should stay where it is. If they would just alleviate the Eureka grind a bit it would probably be better received. A grind is fine, but not this. At least, not this slow and monotonous. As it stands now it's wearing people out and it hasn't even been out a day yet. That's not good. I checked the JP forums, and the responses to their thread titled "Eureka" echo the same feelings about it as a fair amount of us have. Mainly, that it's too much XI.

my first impression of Eureka is my new signature.
I just feel sad.

I'm glad some people like it and will do the content.
I WANTED to like it so much, but, 17 months since it was announced (iirc) and delayed constantly, it has just fallen flat for me. I played XI, I'm familiar with the grind, but it all seems rather shallow and pointless in Eureka and the effort doesn't equate to a great reward nor is it fun to mindlessly kill mobs to level like I'm back in RF online.
My FC and I spent 3 hours in there and not one of us will be going back in.

I logged in as soon as the servers went up this morning. Played for only an hour then had to get off. After that I gave it another try for three hours as soon as I got home.
At first, it was kinda fun. I got lucky and saw around 5 fates pop up during the first three hours that I've played. It was fun running through the map as we all rushed towards the Fate. But once all the Fate are done, I had an hour where no Fates popped up so we didn't really have anything else to do except grind the mobs. This part is what kills me because it is so mind-numbing and boring. I'm just hitting the same mobs over and over again until they die then move onto the next higher level one. I guess it's fine if you wanna watch Netflix while grinding it but it's still bleh.
Eureka kind of reminds me of the really old-school grindy MMOs that takes 3 hours only to get 10% xp for a level. Maybe, if more Fates pop up, it'll be a lot more fun. The map itself looks great and the story seems really interesting though, but I'm satisfied with just reading the summary whenever someone posts it. I think I'll only hang around Eureka for the Fates to pop up for that Dinosaur mount and pray that the RNG for the mount isn't too bad.

My only issue with Eureka is that it suffers from same problem that happens with overcrowded fates and hunts--party members not loading in and being un-targetable, and god forbid it happens to be your tank that isn't loading in when you're healing. I had that exact issue when trying to do Eureka today.
It's just baffling to me that they designed Eureka in a manner that the server/client can't even handle when this has been a known issue since ARR first launched.

If you're playing on PC, you can change viewable player/object to minimal. This makes it easy for you to target NM's and actually see what they're doing.
My group fought mobs around 3-4 levels above us. 5 if we were feeling brave. Not 100% sure, but I think weather "buffs" monsters, depending on their element (and it was windy weather for 2 hours, so we didn't fight Cactuars. Might do that now as it seems getting multiple kill chain resets on them might force the Cactuar NM to spawn, or NM's in general). Mind you, our tank was level 6, while the rest of us were 4-5.I spent about 40m in a small group fighting mobs about 1-2 levels above us, we managed pretty well and I gained a level and about 10 protean for my time. All in all was fun. We wiped once when we tried to go a level higher than what we were doing which was a humorous death dash as we all tried to run when the tank died.

My second impression is *THEY NEED BETTER SERVERS & CLIENT TO RUN THIS MODE* - invisible NMs in FATEs, lag meaning raises don't work, etc.
My first impression was, when playing earlier today (off peak), that it look like fun & could have great potential.
BTW, my PC is more than enough to run this game well & the lag wasn't 'network' based (like when Level3 used to puke) but seemed to be that the amount of characters in the area did something to the servers where they just ignored commands altogether.

I did that before entering Eureka tonight because there was a fool AST spamming stuff at the Songbirds FATE. I still had all those issues so can only imagine how bad it would have been if I hadn't made the changes in advance! 0.o

The grouping system is horrible. Super solo unfriendly, and I've been trying to get into a group for an hour now and get crickets when I ask, not even enough of a response to form my own party. Don't really feel like scrolling through the list whispering random people and hoping someone wants to party up...
It's giving me flashbacks to when I spent hours trying to form groups back in the early days of WoW. Looks like I won't be going in without friends at all - doesn't seem to be much point.
