So far people have reported finding a minion, the T-Rex mount, the Sharlayan Wardrobe, and piles of tier 5 combat materia in lockboxes from the Notorious Monster lockboxes. Other than that you get Protean crystals to buy dyeable versions of AF gear at i350 eventually. So, what exactly do we get from this?
I mean, I made myself pentamelded crafted 350 gear within 2 weeks into 4.2. I'm happy enough with my current glamour.
I expected maybe something like the Timeless Isle or Argus model from WoW, lots of different rewards to hunt, maybe a few big vanity items to grind out. Perhaps a variety of minions, Grade V and VI materia, a couple of mounts, crafting materials, hunt seals... you know, accessible things to chase to keep you occupied for a few months. It isn't really just shiny 350's to glam is it? Honestly curious.

The gear rewards are very low ilvl and cost thousands of crystals to upgrade, even if I was tortured to play this content I still wouldn't do it.

It's what a lot of people were crying for the longest time.
And it's hot trash.
Tolerable with friends.
Not fair. Technically anything can be tolerable with friends. I can do even the most monotonous of activities if I have friends there to chat with while we do it together.
I'm not thrilled so far, but we'll see how it ends up.
To me, the most problematic thing is that thus far, the elemental wheel does not, in fact, really alter combat. It impacts *planning* for content, but that's not really the same thing. Thus far, it also appears like the content is shallow, in that it boils down to rapid-fire chaining of weak monsters and throwing dozens of players at NMs when they spawn. It's certainly possible additional components are lurking in the higher levels, or that SE is planning on adding additional mechanics to Eureka, but thus far it doesn't appear like the content will have the texture or depth of, say, {sky} or {sea} or Abyssea from FFXI (which is what I personally wanted).
I also question SE's decisions regarding solo'ability - or the utter lack thereof - in Eureka. Even assuming high drop rates at higher levels, this content strongly emphasizes parties. For FFXI, I wouldn't have had an issue with that, actually; that was a party-based game, and everyone knew it. For FFXIV, it feels like an awfully harsh about-face, and the complete and total absence of any other meaningful, solo-oriented content grinds in Stormblood worsens the problem.
All in all, I'd say I'm underwhelmed. I went in hoping for "Abyssea meets FFXIV", was willing to settle for a spiritual successor to Palace of the Dead that was oriented toward level-cap progression rather than leveling, and feel instead like I've gotten some 'meh' combination of Hunts and Diadem wrapped around a grind that seems to have drawn its inspiration from the original Atma grind in 2.x. C'est la vie; lord knows we shouldn't be surprised at this point by SE's failures to deliver inspired content.
Bullshit. I've not seen anyone on the forums crying for brainless and difficult grinds. Difficulty, sure, but not brainless difficulty. You, sir, are willfully misrepresenting the general content-related complaints floating around on the forums.

Nonsense to you. I’ll say what I please thanks.Per the patch notes:
The quantity and frequency with which protean crystals can be obtained will increase with the elemental level of enemies, the greatest yields coming from those at level 20 or above.
Nobody knows how the drop rates will be at lvl 20 so stop spouting nonsense.
Edit: to further my supposed “nonsense”, people after 3-5 hours barely got a few LEVELS. You’re assuming not ONLY leveling to 20 in those 100 hours, but also getting 4K protean crystals? That’s not happening unless you’re a botter, and even then, you wouldn’t accumulate it in 4.5 days SOLO.

There is Fates that spawn actually, I did 2 of them. They give you half a level and a bunch of lockboxes that give you random stuff with a chance to give you housing items and the new mount(s). I also got a bit of mendacity for killing it.
