Oooooo this is a good one.
As much as I love Hien, I'd have to go with Aymeric. Both (in my opinion) have incredible leadership skills, as their ability to lead at all was met with such adversity. Despite this, they both triumphed, now matter how difficult the tasks were, and the costs. My reason for choosing Aymeric is personal, I suppose. The relationship the player has with Aymeric seems much closer than that of Hien, and I kind of enjoy that.
Yes, I wore the outfit for the cutscene because I'm a huge dork. It was cute. Fight me.
You ditched Aymeric for Hien 8(
It's way too early for us to really judge Hien since he just got introduced; so far, he's a nice character. We'll see how he develops throughout the expansion of Stormblood.
HOWEVER, I'm Team Aymeric; that fine Elezen has my heart. :] Still waiting for Temple Knights to become a Grand Company so I can ditch Twin Adder lol

Aymeric always!
Aymeric already shown that he is a weak leader in the entire Heavenward campaign and not showing in any strength in military or politic.
He also did not face any situation that requires him to make hardcore decision.
It is pretty much Hero of Light directing his decision in entire Heavenward. (He is pretty much our main character's little fanboy).
In comparison to Hien, he is about to make a difficult decision with Yotsuyu that will determine the fact of Doma and his leadership.
If Hien can pass this trail, then he is 100% far better than Aymeric as a leader.
Romantic dinner with Hien when?!?!
Maybe its just me but Hien and the way he interacted/used the Xaela has always sorta bothered me. I like his look aesthetically but I lean toward Aymeric. Heck I even prefer Zenos because his story and his deeds are so honestly malevolent that I feel more comfortable with him than someone who seems to be trying to exploit the culture of an isolated community for their own gain but is still supposed to be some kind of hero.
Aymeric wants to rebuild his city and undo generations of hatred the right way and I have to admire him for that even if he is naive in a lot of ways. Hiens methods to me felt super self serving to the Domans with littel care at all about the Xaela. It didn't seem to bother him that fighting and losing might bring the Garleans down on the tribes heads or that he (spoilers) helped a pretty weak willed tribe take the Dawn Throne when they otherwise wouldn't have just so he could get what he wanted. Will the Mol, who do whatever the gods say and whose side quests all consist of them making stupid decisions based on signs, be good leaders? Are they strong enough to protect the other tribes without the warrior of light and the domans that helped them win? I doubt it. Magnai was arrogant but at least he and the Oronir etc kept the Steppe safe and had spines. Gosetsu, similarly, seemed to disrespect the ways of the tribes initially but came around after his interactions with the Dotharl. Hien never really had that kind of moment. It was all very 'yes yes tell me about your ways so I can use them against you, chop chop'. A friend of mine played the msq with me the first time through and both of us came out of it really disliking him and the whole situation. Now that he's moved on to other things in the patches following the main game, he's more likable but only if I disregard all those other moments on the Steppe because he never really face any consequences for it, repaid the Au Ra, or showed growth in that department.
