Personally, the forums have been rather stale lately. It's been very entertaining seeing old threads pop up again, bringing back memories of the beta and early launch.

I've always found it weird how there seems to be this unspecified line between creating a thread too similar to another one and bringing one back up that relates to a topic you want to discuss if it's been off page 1 for too long. Wouldn't it be preferable, in terms of searching, to have -fewer- threads on the same topic to sift through? Even if you don't create a new thread on the same topic until after it's bumped off the first page, you're still going to eventually have a huge mess of threads when trying to search a particular topic. Or is it just a convenient "out of sight, out of mind" type thing?
Probably the out of sight, out of mind thing. Also probably folks who are looking for a reason to get offended about something that have a huge issue with the necros. It's probably why a certain individual says he's been reporting (I suppose getting someone permabanned is fine when something annoys folks, even though they really have nothing to be annoyed about).

What the JP do is completely different. They keep the same threads active over a long period of time. These threads have been dead for 5 years.
I'm still failing to see your argument as a bad thing. Or why it annoys you to the point that you're (not you personally, I'm just speaking in general terms since someone said they've been sending reports on me) reporting me (we all know that the mods don't just delete topics...there's usually a permaban that follows). I dunno why it's so difficult to simply ignore it instead of sitting here arguing with me over something that really doesn't even need to be argued about. If folks go into a necro'd thread and treat it as a recent topic, they'll be corrected in the usual way that folks correct new forum members that don't know how to bypass the 1k word count, and then we'll either share our thoughts on whatever has been revived, or the thread will die out again like it died all those years ago. I didn't realize having a decent laugh about something many years ago was such a bad thing that the mods have to waste their time coming in here like this was a daycare and there were bad children looking back at old things that used to be talked about and having a somewhat decent conversation about it.

It's not like there's an overload of necro threads going on either - no more than ten at most, maybe slightly a bit more if that. It's not as if necros are drowning out recent threads. So again...why are some of you so offended about this that you find yourselves having no choice but to report?
