Go to the character creator screen next time you have a minute, race stats are still a thing now, they're just not very noticeable anymore due to raised item level at 70 compared to what it was at 50.

It still wasn't even that noticeable at 50. It made literally no difference unless you want to maximize your numbers... by like an additional 0.5% or something equally as terrible.
There's a difference in keeping a thread active for years and necroing a dead thread.
Usually the necromancer is jumping in with a point that has already been made, trying to restart a conversation that has already been played out. But the cycle of discussion has concluded so you may as well just read the thread and move on, hence why it's looked down upon.
No, i've never seen a single game where the gender mattered other than aesthetics, people would have a fit in this day n age if that happened.

Indeed, even WoW theres no difference between male/female, only design.
I checked out another MMO just out of curiosity (and because it was free this weekend) called Tera. I don't like that a tank/dps class is locked beyond both a race and gender. I mean, I understand with an MMO like Star Wars because there's established lore and there is a counterpart in the opposite faction...but from what it sounds like in WoW, there doesn't seem to be a counterpart at all. I'm still fairly new to MMOs in general, but why was race/gender for certain classes or stats a thing? I mean, I'm glad we're currently at a level in FFXIV where race/gender stats really don't matter, but for other MMOs, that seems to be counter-intuitive to have stats based on gender and race.

...was it even noticeable at level 10?
Lore and influence from older (non-computerized) gaming systems like D&D.I'm still fairly new to MMOs in general, but why was race/gender for certain classes or stats a thing? I mean, I'm glad we're currently at a level in FFXIV where race/gender stats really don't matter, but for other MMOs, that seems to be counter-intuitive to have stats based on gender and race.
e.g., make a strong burly race that intuitively has an advantage in bruiser type roles. Delicate magical race with some advantage in spellcasting. etc. Affinities you'll often find in fantasy fiction.
Didn't work quite so well with the minmax'ing nature of MMOs afterall, though.

They were are still are. What has actually changed is they removed the "bonus points" because it either nerfed SCH or SMN, and people were just told to min-max one or the other, so anyone who did anything but min-max would get yelled and screamed at.
At any rate they were trivial, +1 or +2 points in some stats, that wouldn't even be noticed after 5 levels. I did quite an extensive test when figuring out the healer leveling stats, and basically discovered that the way the game actually did math was:
Base score at what level or level sync your character is at (which will look like 50% of the stat, but the base score IS what all the skills are based on.)
+ Equipment score (which will only affect damage/healing. It will not affect MP/HP regeneration rate, regardless of anything) which is affected by ilevel sync.
+ Race score, which was treated the same as equipment score. So really it was of no consequence.
And if you don't believe me, take all your gear off and write down your stats when you're level synced in FATE's. You'll see that that all races get synced to the same numbers.
I don't know if you meant mmos specifically but I know gender effected stats in one of the elder scrolls games.. I think oblivion maybe?
I suppose if there was established lore, like with SWTOR, it wouldn't be as bad as long as there was a counterpart to it. If FFXIV had factions and we had the choice between Hydalyn (I'm sure I spelled her name wrong) and Zordiark, as long as there was an equivalent in some way, it'd be fine. Red mages vs blue mages. White mages vs blue mages...things like that. Keep in mind, I'm using that as an example...it's not possible to have those kinds of faction-specific class/jobs in FFXIv. Thankfully.
