I keep running into tanks that like to provoke off of me as of late.
They'll have hate for like only a second before I take it back from them though. Had it happen to me in Ramuh last night and the dude ended up cleaving people and killing them.
I really don't get what's the point in doing that. Is it because they need to show me their e-peen is bigger? Because all that makes me think is that they're compensating for something.

Decided to try and get my Sigmascape items last night. Ran 2 O7N and 2 O8N. 1/4 of the runs were smooth and nobody died. One of the runs, I think people forgot how to move their characters around the arena to avoid AoEs. Both healers always had a vulnerability debuff(this was in O7), the other RDM...I don't know WHAT they were doing, and basically it was a run of "let's take as much damage, and debuffs, as we can and see if we can clear...". Of course, we did clear it, but with people taking things that they could have easily dodged.


Also had a weird run of Hell's Lid for my EX roulette before those. The other DPS(both of us were RDM) would just randomly stop attacking the mobs, and just stand there for a few moments(my guess is typing something to a friend not in the dungeon). That isn't what bothered me about the run though. During the final boss, when he throws up his shield...it was only me, the tank, and the healer attacking it. The other RDM put their weapon away and just stood there until they needed to move to avoid the AoEs. Since it was the final boss...there wasn't much reason to do anything about it.

I was reading that necroed healer DPS thread and the "stop standing in bad" part reminded me of a dungeon run I had as a black mage back when anima relics were a thing:
IIRC I was running ARF for tomestones and our healer was a scholar. As usual, we had to dodge aoe's but I noticed a shield on me shortly before the indicators appeared. I dodged anyway and then the SCH commented "Don't you trust me, Miko? " After that I went pretty much 100% turret and nuked everything while the SCH kept me shielded through all the bad. Such a weird experience. But in a good way!

I don’t expect my casters to move in any dungeon I run as AST, and my Melee should never move from a pull unless there are multiple AOEs. Granted, I understand why they do (damned if they do, damned if they don’t), but I always tell my black mages to stand in place.

I always feel bad for a blm who has to move out of leylines just because of one aoe circle. Especially if the aoe only occurs every 10+ secs

So I've been levelling an alt character so I can help out my friends in raid but still contribute to chest count, and when I got to final steps of faith, I had this little gem of an interaction.



To explain what had been going on beforehand:

At the start of the fight, I notice immediately that our scholar was not putting out any dps, so I bring my healing down to the level necessary. Namely, I only threw out a medica II and even then I had a gross overheal %. Only real way I could contribute was dps. When we get to the adds, I start to holy them, and that's when conversation starts. (for the record my friend if you end up reading this, holy becomes a dps gain on just two targets, and I had the mana to spare.)

Now, I understand that my response was a bit short. In my defense, I wanted to fight, not type, so instead of "I appreciate you trying to help but I assure you that I'm not actually a sprout and I know what I'm doing", I put "I'm a raider alt". It seems my response was mis-interpreted.

The red line marks where the healer stopped healing entirely, and continued to do almost no dps besides. I continued to deal decent damage while solo healing. And the LOL probably didn't help smooth things over, but I couldn't help myself when #8 guy died to avoidable mechanics after all his big talk.

The kicker? After the trial was over, he went and tattled on my FC leader... with the truth a biiiit stretched.

Props to your FC leader. Also, for next time, maybe try being less obnoxious.


ETA: Because I don't trust the reactions of people on this forum, that was pure sarcasm D: I'm usually of the mindset that if people aren't dying, let the healer do what they want with DPS.

I have only seen Healer LB3 on Kefka during patch day. Its been 6 weeks. There's no reason people should still need it.

I've had players get salty in RM about it. i guess it's just nerves.

Why do players think healers shouldn't dps? There's no excuse for healers not to in this game.

There is clear skill divide between players that raid and those that don't. In the don't camp are a significant number of players which believe healers should heal and tanks should be in tank stance all the time. There is no "confusion" about DPS because DPS have little utility (BRD being the DPS job with most utility) or responsibility. Those players just have not come to realization that you can do more than your primary function when performing those rolls.
