But you could get lvl 50 within 2 weeks of doing quests only with double bonus exp "road to 60" and sanctuary bonus (not sure do they stack).Honestly I would have kicked anyone not preforming their role (i.e tank losing threat everywhere, healer not healing etc), replace and move on, it's not the end of the world if they don't take any advice I won't waste it if they haven't caught onto how to do their primary role by lvl 50.
Seriously, you expect these players to learn anything in that time? xD
I mean it was stated he wasn't a returning player nor a sprout so I'd assume that a lvl 51 tank would know how to use Flash/Halone combo with Circle of Scorn for threat it's the basics of tanking if they're struggling and being ridiculed in a 50 dungeon it's only gonna get worse from here on out so at least they're taking the advice. About players learning within those 2 weeks I mean we all have different standards but holding threat and learning how to mitigate as a baby tank is your first priority if you can't do that within the first 2 weeks and Hall of the Novice didn't work I dunno what to tell you.
Why are you bringing DPS into this equation? This has nothing to do about damage or FFlogs it's about the basics of being a tank the whole thing is about this tank not being able to tank because he's spamming Shield Lob and letting threat run around what do you not understand? I don't care about damage as it wasn't the issue here you're missing the whole point in this thread if you think that it was DPS it was the tank unable to do their role, it's the fundamentals of being in a group and expecting everyone to do their role.Did the op said he didnt use flash, or the opposite side said he had a problem with keeping the aggro?
No? So he did well enough for 2-3 weeks player.
Its a dungeon with 90 minute mark, if you feel a tank not spamming aoe all the time makes it impossible to run, then there is something wrong with you as a dps, because your dps probably socks also if you progress so slowly.
I doubt his party was any good as well, but it was easy for them to call him, instead of looking at themselves.
As a tank myself i could easly tell which party i am playing with has a good dps or not, that factor makes up 80% of the party damage most of the time if the dps are at least decent, i could chill out and focus on keeping alive myself with big pull instead of doing most of the dmg. Things just evaporate so quick if the dps know what they are doing. If they struggle to run the dungeon i guess they were not good either, yet they fast to blame a PLD in tank stance for his poor dps, PATHETIC.
Especially if you realize that PLD in dungeon on average is second lowest dps dealing class with giant gap comparing to dps (2-3 times higher), if that makes it so bad to run someone is complaining how long it takes, i have bad message for them.
Edit: Kaldea already beat me to the punch with the quotes but yeah he didn't use Flash either just Circle of Scorn and Shield Lob, not to mention Kaldea said the DPS was great despite the Sch having to heal 4 targets with the tank not tanking anything so your DPS point is moot.

Judging by the fact you have to complete base 2.0 storyline and all the dungeons that entails to even access Tam Tara Deepcroft Hard, yes, I would expect a player in this situation to know the basics of their role.
You assume the OP has basic MMO trifecta game experience. FFXIV is not intuitive for players who has never played MMOs before and even I had issues with some of the UI concepts due to how inconsistent every aspect of this game was, and I've been playing MMOs since the 90s.
No, I don't actually. I had zero MMO experience before starting FFXIV. You are greatly overestimating how difficult concepts like "look at what the ability you just got does" or "read the helpful little pop ups" or even "read whats being said to you in party chat" actually are. And worse come to worse, google is a thing. You assume the OP has basic MMO trifecta game experience. FFXIV is not intuitive for players who has never played MMOs before and even I had issues with some of the UI concepts due to how inconsistent every aspect of this game was, and I've been playing MMOs since the 90s.

Is reading your skills when you get them that difficult? You assume the OP has basic MMO trifecta game experience. FFXIV is not intuitive for players who has never played MMOs before and even I had issues with some of the UI concepts due to how inconsistent every aspect of this game was, and I've been playing MMOs since the 90s.
You'd think if someone had 0 mmo experience, then all the shiny new things would make them wanna explore and learn. Do you open a single player game and not read a thing on what your stuff does and just spam X until you win?
I mean, you shouldn't. It doesn't get you much of anywhere unless you're on super ez difficulty. Why is an mmo different in that? Why wouldn't you want to know what your super cool flashy attack does?

Pretty much any game out there requires basic reading skills....heck most of them list that on the game boxes... Reading Skills/Abilities is not just an MMO thing. As someone who barely dipped their toes into MMO's mostly WoW prior to being sucked into FFXIV, FFXIV was infinitely easier to find the information at least on skills and such when you were looking for them. It's part of why I loved this game more. The UI is relatively easy (however the mini map sucks) as well to pick up for newbies, if you read out what everything is for. Maybe when starting the game t hey should really do a basic, read all the things tutorial and not just the help tips that you can pretty much instantly turn off (or make it where you cant turn them off).
Back to the original topic, I've been watching this thread a while. and its actually been a bit eye opening.
However to the OP, please please PLEASE learn your abilities. While it wrong to be ridiculed by some of the party, it was also wrong of you to not know how to properly use your class. Just take a few minutes and read the abilities you have, and worse case, redo your hotbars. It's only going to get worse if you don't.
"Within each of us, the potential for great power waits to be released."

I played wow before joining FFXIV but i didn't play as a tank in wow i was mainly dps, so yes FFXIV is my first mmo playing as a tank, so let's not downgrade somebody just sayin. You assume the OP has basic MMO trifecta game experience. FFXIV is not intuitive for players who has never played MMOs before and even I had issues with some of the UI concepts due to how inconsistent every aspect of this game was, and I've been playing MMOs since the 90s.
