Americans angry could have something to do with the hamburgers they eat.
They put the drugs into them im telling you, stop eating them or you will end up jumping out of the window in rage.

They have a blacklist outside of the game, where they will post the names and informations of the people. I never saw it myself since I cant speak Japanese but this was talked about quite often. If you land there you might just be kicked or not invited anymore even if the people might have never fighted alongside you or had a problem with you. Yoshida himself stated that they need to change the way that lodestone functions because even if you change server or/and your name, as long as someone has the link to your lodestone they can still see your changes and it seems that some has followed those to the other server to make life bad there too. If SE wants to change that this kinda implies that this was a bigger problem.
I am there are probably horrible players that kinda deserve to be blacklisted (ingame) but who know why you land there at all and if the people truly question if you truly did something bad.
Yeah I think its one of the bigger ones. My example was more to show that you can have bad apples everywhere. And that you probably remember the instances with bad ones more than the ones with the nice people. Thus some might get the view that a certain playbase is worse.Isn't Moogle the busiest EU server? I think the population of Lich is pretty small, because you can still buy plots of land easily and I've never had a problem when doing the monster hunts with other players (but I do play at screwy times for an EU player). I have only recently started to level my gathering skills, so I might see problems with the rare nodes down the line, but the only time I had some really unpleasant comments is when we were doing the final Ala Mego boss where you fight blondy.
When I have done my routletts, I often get to play with people from Moogle and they have always been friendly and chat when we run the 70 dungeons.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

You know, been on the internet since the aol, netzero, earthlink days. Been on forums and seen all sorts of things.
Been playing online games since, I dunno, 8 maybe?
Ive seen things.
And you know what Ive come to realize? It hasnt changed, all that much. There are genuine racists, of course, but most people are trolls. You can tell who is what by putting what is said in context of the times. As an example, someone in here mentioned that as soon as Trump was elected, people talked about "I cant wait for Trump to purge 'X' group! Its gonna be great!" In of itself, that seems horrible. Save you had people quite literally saying hitler just got elected, we live in essentially Nazi Germany, and that he was going to go on a campaign to kill minorities. Not in jest, or in hyperbole, but rather people letting their nonsense get to their heads and becoming panicked. The absurdity that we were living in Nazi germany and that there were going to be death camps and the like prompted people to make that response as a satirical response to it. You get similar kidn of reactions with the "I identify as an attack helicopter" in regards to there being an infinite number of genders.
Racism hasnt really increased (Id argue its decreased if anything), rather, people say things because they find it funny and edgy to poke fun at some of the outrage others get up to. You had this in the 90s where the left in teh US were saying edgy things about the evangelical right and their moral busy body ways. You see this now in reverse. And that doesnt even include self induced exposure. If there were 100 incidents of idiocy 10 years ago but you only saw 1, and not there are only 5 incidents of idiocy but youve seen 4, you would assume its gone up 4 times, even if the rate of idiocy has dropped 20x over.
Point is, things arent worse. This idea of "toxicity" is, in my estimates, par for the course, if not BETTER than it was. People think its worse cause they dont consider context, and they bombard themselves with more of it.
Reality check. You are comparing Japan, a single society that is mostly made up of Japanese people to North America an extremely diverse country with 50 states East, West, North, South all with drastically different cultures and ideals. Can you see how tension is easier to build up in a country like USA because of how drastic the views and opinions can be from state to state compared to Japan that in comparison is just a small island country made up mainly of Japanese people.

Very simple. Two parts, JP players have a different culture they live in vs the NA players. Second, it is a lack of SE enforcing there ToS to make the game fun and playable. They allow trolling/botting/very known PvP hacks and other such garbage without ever doing anything to clean it up. When I first started playing FFXIV in beta and from release to now. The game had amazing players at the start that were very help to new players like me. I started on the PS3 and had never played an MMO before. Long learning curve. Many that I knew dropped the game around patch 2.3 do to relic and raid rewards, though some did come back. The final nail was HW release. Raid that was truly savage even to top players that created a dps only thinking for every job, even in non raid content. The crafting and gathering was gated weekly. You played a short time each week for little reward and many left then. But the hard core stayed and players became more salty making the new player experience less than fun. Bots hammering away at everything and tossing gear upgrades behind hunts which is still some of the saltiest content.
So now everyone that stayed is often unhappy, willing to troll and doesn't care. The easy fix, civility and that starts with SE enforcing their ToS. Second, players need to learn from temp bans they get or see other get to either be a good player and follow ToS or find a new game. I personally believe SE will not enforce ToS out of fear of losing players but I feel they lose far more new players than they gain by keeping toxic players. Just what I saw in an old Fc I use to run.

Most players I have met in FFXIV are very nice. Rude and angry players are few and far between.
I'm looking at your post and wondering how you came to the conclusion that the content in FFXIV is so bad that it breeds trolls and rude players. You make the assumption that all the decent people left, leaving behind a cesspool of angry nerds. What does the current content in the game have to do with the ToS? Yes people are sometimes sucks when it comes to hunts, but those people are probably jerks for many different things. You present no evidence that the game itself is what is making people angry or rude.
If this was even the case how does this prove the NA community is worst than the JP community?

it has nothing to do with players being toxic, it has nothing to do with trump (lol thats funny, players blaming trump)
it has everything to do with how we raise our kids
the, you participated so your special feeling
good job even if you lost
everyone is a winner
no child left behind

I find the in-game experience to be generally great - though I find it hard to find a good, mature, chatty and friendly Free Company.
I find the community away from the game generally unhelpful though, often not even replying to posts asking for help. It's not great.

Totally agree with you on this, there are always going to be the odd ones who are just pure vile scum regardless. I guess I have been lucky by starting on a very quiet server, so I have not had to deal with crappy people that often.
